Patriots Rumor Should we have any interest in Ocho Cinco?

You are talking about the WR that Belichick hugged on camera. Johnson would not be a cancer in the patriot locker room, any more than Moss or Dillon was when they arrived.

Who wants that cancer in the clubhouse? He's a self centered, self promoting moron. The Pats do not need more offense. Their defense was what let them down last year.

I must say that this thread has been most amusing to me.

As I understand the posts, the patriots should not trade a 2nd for Johnson because to do so would prevent us from improving our defense. Apparently unless all six top 100 picks are used on defense, these posts would not be satisfied.

Let me go on record. A wide receiver for our 47th pick would be a reasonable use of the pick if a top receiver were available and their wasn't more value at other positions.

=======================

We could have Gilbert/Laurinitis/Maualuga, your pick of OLB, Johnson AND one of Moore/Vaughn/Chung PLUS get a OG, an OT and another defensive prospect in the next three picks.

Logic and sanity injected here finally.... A second round pick for Ocho Cinco would be value, value, value..... As for him being a locker room cancer, Pahleeeeze give me a break. That's an opinion with nothing backing it up!

I tend to agree. We go 4 in some WR sets. History says Galloway will be hurt at some point (I hope not) in 2009. Johnson is six years younger. The issue is will he be happy sharing touches? If we have CAP, take him. Trade suggestions instead of a choice? Do we have any one we can dangle. I usually suggest but then I get a family member of the "tradee" that rips me on whomever I say, back on this forum.
BB plays the best guy be it high draft choice or FA. Money is not a key with Patriot management as to whether to cut or trade someone. Jerry Jones just got nailed for $8m to make his team better by subtraction. I enjoy listening to some who rant in this site saying "it is cheaper to keep so and so". Come on . You don't believe that. If BB sees a chance to get #85 he will get him. If it makes the team better he cuts a Milloy and trades a Vrable.

STOP, with all these offensive players. we are set on offense. we need a pass rusher! we need an ILB to take over teddy's spot when he retires. We need to get 1 more CB and 1 SS. The only offensive player i could see us getting is a O-line man.

Here here.:agree:

JSn - Johnson is all about himself. Well, at least that is what his antics come across ass. From the Gold veneers on his teeth, to his on field antics, to his name change. They are all done to bring attention to himself. They do nothing to help his team. And that is the issue.

Trading for Ocho Cinco huh? Hey since we are at it why dont we sign Vick? :banned:

Well that would almost single handly give us a shot at 16-0 if we get him, and sign Jason Taylor, and bolster the depth with draft picks.. But I dont want a reciever with a last name ocho cinco.. But would be nice..

Absolutely nothing to back it up.

Well, there was that little matter of him starting a fight with a coach at halftime of a playoff game his team was winning becasue he hadn't gotten enough touches and hadn't been able to do some stupid dance he spent all week practicing. But that probably had little to no impact on the team totally falling apart in the 2nd half.

I'd do that in a heartbeat

What is amusing is the fact that we forget the problems we have had with our 2nd round WRs. Branch, a decent pick, but his holdout really cost this team. Bethel Johnson ring a bell? Anyone still believing in Chad Jackson?? Getting a malcontent all pro for a 2nd round pick...we have that history of turning them around. We can move the $$ around, and how much $$ do we save if Galloway doesnt make the team?? 1.8m? We have extra picks, I can easily see one used for a vet and another traded into '10. #47 for Ocho Cinco, sign me up!

Johnson gets frustrated when his coach doesn't allow him to use his talents to help the team. His antics are very similar to Moss in Minnesota. Johnson is respected by Belichick who would take in a heartbeat if it can be done.

There are lots and lots of picks for the defense. Using one to give us a second year of the best offense in the history of the NFL would be awesome. AND JUST BY THE WAY, a great offense makes a defense look good. Look at the 2007 defensive stats.

Absolutely nothing to back it up.

For some reason I thought he was a free agent and would be a Patriot this season. BB likes him and he would be an AWESOME addition to the offense. Trading a second would be well worth it. This team is done with the 3rd string wideouts at all 4 positions (2006). I would love to see 85 on the team.

Moss is our number 1 receiver! Chad would want to be our number 1!! Theres no room on this team for Chad, especially the fact that we need to upgrade our Defense not offense we are set for offense!!

Silence! Captain Kill-Joy! Do it BB, do it now! We need Ocho Cinco!

I don't see any reason why we shouldn't clog up cap room for a guy that plays a position in which we are absolutely loaded at.

If our offense wasn't so solid right now, maybe. I'd much rather invest in our defense or O-Line.

OK, that makes sense but wouldn't Johnson's salary be much more than a 2nd rounders and thus preclude them from potentially signing FA's if the Pats so chose? (That's a sincere question.)

Ocho Cinco, he's wicked good.
Seriously, he's a monster.
I think he'd be just fine in the locker room.
