The secondary is in store for some change with the Dallas Cowboys following the selection of cornerback Byron Jones in the draft. Suddenly the position groups is looking a bit crowded, especially for former 1st round pick Morris Claiborne. Despite several opportunities he has never managed to realize the potential he showed coming out of LSU in 2012. Word is already growing that if he can’t put together a good training camp or preseason, the Cowboys may decide to cut their losses.
They need to add another body. For depth if no other reason. Morris Claiborne would represent the exact kind of reclamation project Bill Belichick thrives on. The head coach is known for coaching up defensive backs. He would know how to use Claiborne and perhaps get something out of that talent.

What would his 1 year cap hit be for us if we traded for him?

Claiborne's been terrible, but he's worth a late pick hail mary.

Fully acknowledging how bad our secondary looks right now, I still don't see how Claiborne is an improvement to it. He's been consistently terrible.

I know that we've seen a lot of this talk lately, Icy--but here are my concerns (from someone who is stuck watching CBoy games every week due to my wife's allegiance):

--doesn't seem very bright, which is backed up by extremely low Wonderlic score

--cannot stay healthy

--doesn't look very talented even when he has seen the field

--has had some attitude and work ethic questions

Would rather see them sign Morris Day...

Kid can't tackle, I'd rather give Darryl Roberts a shot

Edit: thanks for a real football thread though, need more of these

Sheesh .... nothing good there ... sounds like nobody would trade for that.

As a Patriot fan.. it would be hard for me to pass up on a CB named Claiborne..

Its like asking me twenty years from now if we should take a risk on a QB named O'Brady

Or if we should take a look at a LB named Brewski.

But yeah, the low intelligence seems like it might be problematic for a Belichick player.

I think we can all appreciate the "what if" scenario, seeing as how he was a high round/selection draft pick, but my concern would be that he may be on the path to bust-ville.

Of course, a 7th round draft pick or waivers claim couldn't be too bad of a thing, particularly the latter which would reset the financial compensation.

Christ...I hope he did it blindfolded

Even I would be a better option at CB than Claiborne.

Wasn't he the guy who flaked out on the team and left for a day or two when he was told he lost his starting job?

I'd do it if the Cowboys threw in their second-rounder [sic].

I think the system would be too complicated for him. Claiborne is dumber than a box of rocks. On top of that, he can't seem to stay healthy. As badly as I think that position group needs help, I don't see how Claiborne would help all that much.
