I'm worried Ryan Allen might break some of his fingers catching these bullets from Cardona.

Everything thing I have read is that the Navy is letting him play?

Yep report is the Navy is leaning towards letting him stay in RI and play the season because it would be good publicity for the Navy. Issue I saw was that next year he would be on a ship out of Maine. I dunno, cross that bridge when they come to it.

Yep. That would suck for him for his base to be in Maine. Portsmouth (Kittery) is a haul from Foxboro but the US Naval Reserve Base is in Bangor!

There is the Joint Forces Program HQ in Milford, MA.

Yep. Who knows what they work out in the end. I bet he is there from training camp through the season every year. Do a 6 month stint on a ship possibly then back to football at the worst.

The drive would stink but I bet he he wouldn't be driving back everyday or every week even.

I'd be more concerned with a lack of adrenaline as a result of not having to play guess-the-trajectory.

Seriously, though, it's almost mesmerizing watching this. The ball goes to basically the exact same spot every time.

Interesting that so many people knocked Belichick for drafting a long snapper but when you look at this kid it is clear that he is the "Andrew Luck franchise QB" of long snappers. A fifth round pick to address a critical role on the team for probably at least the next decade. I thought it was a brilliant selection, especially when you consider the increased degree of difficulty for extra points.

Belichick almost didn't have an option:
  1. a new level of excellence
  2. through incredible dedication
  3. that provides a strategic advantage that few pay attention to (a fraction of a second on a placekick can mean a lot)
  4. from a guy in the Navy.

Guy's a machine. Those placeholder snaps are something to behold.

Catching a snap for a FG hold looks sneaky difficult, never mind the fact that you still need to place it laces out with the right amount of lean once you've caught it.

A special teams stud from Navy at a position of great need. I don't think there's been a more predictable Patriots draft selection since Drew Bledsoe.

He's the Andrew Luck of long snapping prospects, and we'll probably have him this season, but what about the inevitable ~5 years we'll need to find another long snapper?
