They know what they're signing up for.

I think players are beginning to understand now, but most players who have played in the NFL definitely did not know what they were signing up for. No one had a clue that there was this kind of lasting damage to the brain. We are going to see a lot more early retirements.

This is the exact reason that people can only SUSPECT that Seau had a previous attempt. He said he fell asleep a the wheel, and that is a VERY common unprovable reason for an accident.

Falling asleep at the wheel is common, but how many instances are there of someone falling asleep and driving their vehicle off a 100 ft cliff? That's very rare. Seau did this a few hours after he was arrested for domestic violence. Then he ends up committing suicide. There is a chance the drive off the cliff was accidental but it's very unlikely this was accidental given the other circumstances we know.
