Season is over, who is the MVP of the NFL?

I know alot of people are saying Manning, but I'd go with Michael Turner. Manning played great the 2nd half of the season, but as a whole season, most of his numbers were down and he had his worse statistical season since 2002. Also, the Colts offense as a whole was statistacally far below their norm as well. And I dont think the excuse of the Colts had no running game is valid, since it never seem to make a bit of a difference for Brady in the past when he was not surrounded by talent even close to what Manning has had. Not to mention, the Colts finished where most people thought they would, a 12 win season and in the playoffs. Also, I can think of 3 wins the Colts had that were the result of the Colts defense or poor play of the opposing teams then becasue of Manning.

Turner, in his first year as a starter gained 1700 yards and 17 tds. The Falcons were 7 games better this season then last and their offense was a full td per game better then last year. Matt Ryan was great as a rookie, but without Turner, they dont sniff the post season.

Chad Pennington.

Most significant position improvement on a team that went from 1-15 to 11-5 and won the division.

One would be hard-pressed not to look at Manning or Turner. But, I have to give Kudos where they are due. Chad Pennington played amazingly this year and I don't believe that any other QB did more for his team than Chad did.

And, hopefully, with Farve's choke act yesterday, his name is removed from the MVP voting.

BTW, Brett, you are a POS and I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you waited until the last game of the season to put up your clunker. That's 5 out of 6 years that your interceptions have cost your team the final game they played in. How does that feel to know that it was your own mistakes that did it?

I'm sick of the Manning Manning Manning crap too, because people are ignoring Turner and Peterson. Yeah, Peterson blew a game with some fumbles, but they'd be like 5-11 without him. As for Turner, he made Ryan's development speed up twice as fast as it otherwise would have.

It pisses me off to no end that people keep shifting the criteria for MVP to fit Manning's season. When Manning was putting up crazy numbers and winning MVPs, Brady was chugging along with 14-2 records and winning Superbowls with guys most people never heard of before or since. Now, there's a sentiment that Manning brought an injury-depleted Colts team to the playoffs by sheer force of will, and his numbers are the same as Brady's were then: merely very good. It's annoying.

Anyway, I think The Chad is as good a candidate as anyone. He's been awesome this year, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that the Dolphins set the record for fewest turnovers in a season.

Ricky, Ronnie and the Wildcat I think played too much of a role for people to give the credit to Chad.

I think Rivers is going to get it, he is going to be lead the worst record team in NFL history to a Super Bowl win, which is a joke.

I don't really care about the NFL MVP this season since none of our guys are in the running, I just want to know when they will announce the Rookie of the Year awards, Mayo has to be a lock for Defensive Rookie of the Year, which should be some consolation for the season being over.

That one is easy - It is Brett Favre.

He singlehandedly screwed two teams chances at the post season. His own and the Patriots, thereby opening up a one year window of opportunity for 12 other teams to win the Super Bowl.

Honorable mention goes to Pacman Jones - for similarly screwing up the NFC order and implodining on that Saturday night fight against the Ravens.

His team has been winning closer to inspite of their offense than because of it.

Based on previous season's winners you'd have to think it would be Warner who is having a Manning-like season. But this year seems like it's been full of irony so I suppose Manning will win while having a Brady-like season.

I'll go out on a limb and say Ray Lewis...........the ravens defense is that good because he is there.........I don't like the guy personally, but his leadership makes a huge difference......

of course the award will wind up in the hands of either manning or drew brees

This was not an MVP year for Peyton Manning. He just didn't have enough production throughout the year.

Ryan will (and should) get a lot of votes for MVP.
