Guess you weren't watching down the stretch in '07.

And with that, I'm out. I feel dumber for having posted in this thread, won't do it again.

No... he didnt win any games.

He contributed, but didnt what I'd call "win the game" for us.

I've seen many an RB win a game for us. I recall Dillon doing it. Geez... I recall lots of Pats RBs doing it, even one season wonders such as Smith and Rob Edwards. But never Maroney.

The difference between Maroney and Dillon-Smith-Edwards are that those teams actually committed to giving them the ball. The Pats are extremely impatient and seem like they just don't like running the ball since they acquired Moss and Welker.

That's a big part of it. Maroney carried the bacon in the third and absolutely closed out the playoff game against San Diego in 2007.

Of course he hasn't run that hard until recently though, as the recent podcast mentioned, a broken bone in the shoulder does deter one a bit from that smashmouth style.

I'll put in my 2 cents to make this thread even longer:

One of Maroney's major weaknesses is how often he goes down or gets extremely slowed down after the first hit he takes. You hardly ever see him avoid contact and once that contact happens - the forward progress is generally over.

Which makes me ask... do we want to go in the Marion Butts style of football?

If so, LenDale White is up for grabs. He usually wobbles along for three yards before falling in a heap.

And suspended ;) And cut by his college coach ;)

White sounds like a great player :D
