Schefter: Pats sign Brandon Lloyd

I don't agree with that. Our offense creates running lanes for the running backs, and we have a good OL.
We are going to hand the ball to a competant RB. Last year the guy who got the most carries hit it for 3.7 a pop. Talent-wise Ridley and Vereen are an upgrade. BJGE had no more experience before he became a stater and was better in his first year than last year.
RB isn't rocket science. There are yards there for the taking, so any competant RB will be at least decent in this offense. We have 3 on the roster that are at least competant, and I'm sure we will add either a vet or a rookie as insurance against injury.

Would rather have Green-Ellis over Vereen. We don't know what we will get with Vereen. We knew what we would get with Green-Ellis. A reliable back that never fumbles with a tough running style.

Let's not try and spin this broken record again Andy. Ridley and Vereen have to prove that they are upgrades. Ball security, especially turnovers is of paramount importance in the NFL. Right now, there are questions over Ridley's ball security. He is a far more explosive and dynamic runner than Green-Ellis ever was.

I'd still like the Patriots to go after Jonathan Stewart with Matt Forte a pie in the sky proposition. If not, a bruiser to compliment Ridley, Vereen and Woodhead would be preferential. McDaniel's using the run game effectively would be high on my wish list for 2012.

What about using a Fullback as the ball carrier in goal line situations or short yardage?

Pats have a better chance at getting Moss back than they do Forte

Brady should have the easiest time of his career this season with Lloyd in the offense. Now there's no way defenses can clog the middle of the field with this guy working the outside.

Great example of what I've been saying about Lloyd.

His routes are filthy.....

I've been listening to fans and sports radio since the signing of this guy......I can't belive how much everyone is underestimating Lloyd.

You're the guy who was trying to rate Lloyd above Moss, so you talking about someone else underrating anyone should be a bannable offense for you.

They kept showing one of his routes on NFLN when talking about him a couple weeks ago, it was even better than that one. Cant find it though, think he was a Ram though.

Who? I actually read the 1st 20 something pages of this thread and agreed with you in some aspects. I'd rather have an under 33 year old guy who dodges side to side and muscles the line of scrimmage then a straight vertical in this offense.
But who the hell is under estimating him? Everyone I've seen all over the net has said this is a good to great pick up. Like I said, I'm in your corner wanting a more versatile bump and run as opposed to one dimensional,,, but, who has underestimated Lloyde for 12 mill for 3 years?

Yep

Just love watching a guy get open from grit, creativity, and moves.

I'll take him over someone that runs one route fast

I just hear alot more of the "decent signing"

It's more from the local media. (sports radio)

You're right, he's a sick route runner. Probably the best in the league right up there with Fitzgerald/Wayne/S.Johnson. Some other good ones:

NFL Videos: Lloyd 7-yard TD
NFL Videos: QB Feeley to WR Lloyd, 8-yd, pass, TD

And notice how terrible all these throws are and yet he still makes the catches easily.

What I love about Lloyd is Brady just has to throw the ball near him to an open spot and he'll catch it.

Yes!! Just like Welker and Gronk. Oh wait.... :bricks:

By the way, since this thread was a "Moss" vs "lloyde" impact thread, there's no question Randy had more of an impact to date in the NFL then Lloyde will ever have. However, Lloyd will have some advantages over Moss in this offence. Lloyd will be himself + Gronk/Dez/Welker. Moss was minus the tight ends.
