That's a limited sample on one issue where he disagrees. It takes a hell of a lot more than that to become a troll.

What's really sad is outside our group grope here, folks I talk to on the net are still big time into "Pats have a history of cheating" and "Then why were the Colts balls unaffected by the cold?".

They consider either statement a discussion ender and don't listen to long explanations.

Pretty much agree, there are those who like talk football and those who like to talk sh.t, the latter is a conversation ender for me. A shame some can't actually talk football but it is what it is.

I still think that the league will never investigate this. I don't think they want to find out that there is a conspiracy by the Colts and possibly Ravens to set up the Pats or Brady. I think they want this whole thing to go away not inflame it even more by showing there was a clear conspiracy to set up another team.

The Wells investigation may be classified as an "independent" investigation, but Wells and his company makes millions off of contracts with the NFL every year. So their findings will come up with whatever Goodell wants them to come up with. We saw with the Meuller investigation on how the league handled the Ray Rice situation, their independent investigators report what they want (all the damning stuff in that report were stuff Goodell already copped to).

I don't know if these allegations are true. But if the latest reports of the only ball significantly deflated beyond a few ticks or 1 PSI was the one that Jackson intercepted, then there is something fishy going on. I don't know how 11 balls are within 1 PSI or so of one another and there is one ball that is upwards to 2 PSI less than several of the balls and that ball happens to be the one intercepted by the Colts.

I just don't think the league wants this to go anywhere. I think they want the Wells' report to say the Pats' balls were deflated, there is no evidence of tampering, and the science is inconclusive and then give the Pats a nominal fine to give the impression to the haters that they know the Pats cheated, but they cannot prove it. It is bad outcome for the league, but it is their best of their possible outcomes.

I wish there was a Smiley that I could click for: "I'm afraid you're right."

Schefter's final lines state the conundrum that would be invoked: "It does seem unlikely that the Colts would be conniving enough to deflate a football, then turn it in to the NFL and blame the Patriots. It doesn’t make sense that only one football was so under-inflated, though."

Thanks for the backup, Ivan. I actually did the majority of my posting on this board before the reset in '04. At that time I was probably >10,000 posts. As the years have gone by it's gotten harder and harder to visit this place because of the unbelievably irrational posters here. Still a great spot for Pats news and I always come here to get the pulse of Pats Nation, but every time I get into a thread it ends this way. A bunch of irrational yahoos go on the attack because they can't handle the fact that the the Pats might be fallible in some way. The victim mentality is pretty tough to swallow, too.

Can't lie, though. I do get a laugh out of the people who are completely and utterly hypocritical on an issue, yet can't even see it when it's right in front of their face. You know, like crying to the heavens that the media is unfairly accusing the Pats for deflating balls, then immediately turning around and doing the same to the Colts. I mean, that's pure comedy.

Not a problem JD, however in all honesty I'm one of those taking n potshots at the Colts but it is for the comedy of it. Imo the Colts brought a two week sh.tstorm onto the Patriots and it was for one of the most absurd charges I have ever heard of. Not one person I know has ever even considered ball pressure before the Colts made it into the most crucial factor in any game, and the charges they leveled at the Patriots were ridiculous, so imo payback is a b.TCH and they deserve any ridicule we can heap on them.

The only thing I take seriously about this is that Ted Wells should treat the charge against the Colts as seriously as he does the one against the Patriots as both are completely ridiculous.

If the reports are true that they suspected under inflated balls from our first game they very well could have deflated it intentionally having a good idea that we were already under the limit.

It makes perfect sense why they'd deflate it. They were trying to make the refs take notice. If it was mildly deflated and they told the refs, the refs might say "feels OK to me! Go pound sand you stupid idiots". So they let another PSI out and then the refs say..."by golly you may have something, let's check the rest of the balls".

As for chiding people here, people here have no national platform and are not assumed to be unbiased. It's ludicrous to compare speculation to the full on nationwide media lynching that took place. A "journalist" should know that.

I agree, the original deflategate fiasco was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. The Brady press conference was simply insanity, but at the same time, I don't think it was anything malicious or intentional by the media. They have a formula they stick to and they follow it for every story. It wasn't because it was Tom Brady, or the Patriots, it's because it has become the media's job to make a controversy out of every little things that crops up so they can fill the 24-hr news cycle. Don't report on stories, create them.

Politico media and sports media are on about the same level when it comes to this stuff. They've resorted to making things up just to fill the time they are forced to fill, and it comes at a severe detriment to the general populace. It's really despicable, but the reporters on the front lines are just fighting for a job. 90% of them wouldn't have made it in the news industry 20 years ago, there just wasn't a need to make everything into a story. The ones controlling the cycle are those truly to blame.

Well, not me. I don't want Irsay or Grigson to go ANYWHERE. I like them right where they are. Those two QB-centric fools know about as much about team-building as Daniel Snyder.

I can see the Colts doing it just because I don't think they ever thought it would have turned into the media crapstorm that it did. As we see with Atlanta and Cleveland, teams get caught cheating all the time and it is barely a blip on the media's radar. They may have underestimated that there is a double standard with the media when it comes with the Pats and underestimated the fake outrage the media spewed the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

Add the fact that the Ravens were complaining about under inflated kicking balls the week before as if to set up the sting (and not realizing the balls were different balls controlled by the refs).

I could see the Colts wanting to set the Pats up to embarrass them, but not realizing the fallout that came afterwards. Even if the Pats did what they are accused of, it really should have been a nothing story all together.

I guess that depends upon what we consider as media as I thought it was as malicious as it gets. I thought they completely discarded logic and reason and went for the most irrational yet attention grabbing take they could come up with, and those in charge of putting them front and center made certain that only those who were ripping the Patriots were front and center. E.g....Tedy Bruschi disappears and Mark Brunell,is suddenly the voice of ESPN.

We agree that all,media iis alike be it sports or politics and in this case the sports media disgraced themselves as badly as the political media do every day.

As for the Colts, Ravens, or Jets I think,they are fair game for ridicule as this Is just a fan message board and we aren't bound by those ethical standards the media no longer apply to themselves anyways.

You can start by carefully reading people's responses with a genuine intent of understanding their point of view. When you assume a counter argument is false, without actually considering the opposing point of view, what is the point of taking part in the discussion?

As I sit and read whatever stories are out there and read the public responses in the discussion sections....I am left to believe that outside of us here on the boards, the public understand the rules and regulations in general about the football...how they are handled, how teams are allowed to break them in, how they are inspected, etc. I don't feel like there have been any good articles written with the actual rules and regulations clearly spelled out and for the true blockheads, clearly interpreted. That could go a long way in the way people might understand this garbage. For example, if people knew that "K" balls were controlled solely from start to finish by the NFL, then people would be less inclined to say stupid crap like "Baltimore knew and tipped off the colts because the kicker thought the kicking balls were under inflated ". Or if people knew that after inspection, the official inspecting the ball puts his special mark on the approved balls so talk about switching out balls in the bathroom crap would stop. Then the more realistic questions get asked and the more likely scenarios make more sense...like temp change effecting PSI, how Colts balls DID change but remained within the range which is not a requirement in the rules. And like I've said before, if anyone on the Colt, whether on the sidelines or wherever else, stuck a needle into the Patriots balls to even just check the Patriots balls...they would be CLEARLY in violation of the rules as it states (paraphrasing) that balls may not be altered at all once inspected by officials. I myself am convinced that this is no investigation at all if the Colts are not being investigated as well for foul play.
