I looked up a few examples of assistants who were reported before the Super Bowl to be leaving their teams for head coaching jobs elsewhere, whose teams ended up winning the Super Bowl anyway. Interesting that the list is short when going back to 2000. Also interesting that all four examples have Patriots connections.

2021 - Kevin O’Connell, Rams OC → Vikings HC

2018 - Brian Flores, Patriots LBC → Dolphins HC

2004 - Charlie Weis, Patriots OC → Notre Dame HC, and Romeo Crennel, Patriots DC → Browns HC

What would warm my heart is another beatdown of KC like Brady & the Bucs did 5 years ago. 31-9 was the score. That would give Mahomes 2 blowout losses in super bowls.
