"Pretty solid sources" in the Raiders' organization reportedly say Calvin Johnson is atop the club's draft board by "a clear-cut margin."
This comes from ESPN's Len Pasquarelli; ESPN's Chris Mortensen said the same in a recent online chat. Pasquarelli contends the bigger debate is whether JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn is the top QB prospect.

hese metrics remind me of an old Bill James line that says the supply of talented players is much greater than the players want you to believe. This is precisely the reason the Patriots won't break the bank for Samuel.

Samuel wants to be paid as a dominant cornerback, but his metrics show he isn't dominant in coverage, so that part of his game could be replaced fairly easily. His 10 interceptions last season might not be so easy to replace, but because Samuel had only four interceptions in his previous two seasons combined, it is just as likely the high interception total was an anomaly in his favor.

Scott Pioli and Bill Belichick have a track record of being able to develop solid cornerbacks, and that is all Samuel's metrics say he is.

Wasn't he saying a few years ago that Samuel is one of the best cornerbacks on the league?

Joyner does a poor job interpreting his own data.
