Great story!

That was a very heart warming story, indeed. I just hope Mr. Berns lives long enough to see the Patriots win the Super Bowl this season.

1) Good on you, Sam! You are an inspiration.

I would love to see his speech to the Patriots before the Falcons game - - it certainly had the desired effect!

2) That Robert Kraft - - - he certainly is no Jim Irsay, is he?

The speech was really a breakdown, its in the first link/espn video. That was it i think...

Loved the Sam Berns story that was on the blog! People can hate the Patriots all they want, but they are a class organization, and it all starts at the top with Mr. Kraft. Can't think of a kinder, more caring owner in all of sports. Do you have any other "behind the scenes" stories of Mr. Kraft's generosity?
Mike (12:09 PM)

Let's end on this one, Ryan. I'll share a little personal story here. When we had our first child in March of 2009, there were some serious complications that we had. We had previously learned of them at an 18-week ultrasound, which changed the complexion of the next 4-5 months. Anyone who goes through something like that realizes that not too much else matters at that point, and when word somehow got to Robert Kraft, he reached out to ask if there was anything he could do to help. As you know, he has some strong connections to the medical community in Boston. We were in good hands, and we are fortunate that everything has worked out, but I thought it was quite kind that he took the time to see if there was anything he could do. Now, I want to make this clear: That doesn't affect my ability to be objective in this job. But it does reflect that we are all human beings and not robots, and just like everyone else, we have our ups and downs. My family appreciated the gesture, and we feel blessed that everything is in a good place right now.
Important Causes | -- seems something similar to what our nadya went through.

Ay, yes, now I see it.

Thanks, SVN!

Great stuff. Gotta hate those stinking, cheating Patriots. What a lousy group of guys.

Never can be sure with the camera's so obviously rolling and in their face but one thing that stood out to me and I have noticed this a imllion times before is how friendly all the players seem to be with Kraft.

Take for Spikes for example in that video it seems pretty obvious that their hugging and high fiving seemed to go beyond employee employer relationship (you dont usually put your arms around another man that you arent friends with). And this is a player who is in the last year of a contract and possibly could have been a little upset not getting a deal done this past offseason.

Just another good Pats story that will never see the light on PFT.

All my best to this young man. True courage and grace.

(It's getting all dusty up in this b1tch.)

Did Belichick brief him on how to talk like a patriot before the video?
Class move by Kraft and company. Kid should join the staff.

Kraft was a fan for years and it got to be a bit of a problem before BB came along. From Bledsoe and his mediocre linemen on down, they had the worst salary situation in football with long term contracts.

Since he's handed it over to Belichick, of course, it's as well managed as any team. The people that say Kraft is cheap, at least reveal they must be recent fans, besides whatever motives they have.

I have no words to describe this. This is such an amazing story and life.

Damn those ninjas chopping onions.

What an awesome story and piece. Thanks for sharing it.
