Hey Pats fans; opposing fan troll here who has been given a bunch of warnings & is usually annoying.
Had to chime in that even I, as a Pats hater, think this is pretty bogus, ESPECIALLY the timing, which is good for no one - not the Pats, not the NFL, and not for fans.
I watched "Touchdown" the other night on CNBC - about Kraft & the organization he has built. Much respect for that guy; he has truly built the perfect franchise, and you know as well as anyone that this is something that worries the NFL.
The thing about what the Pats have done is that they have created a "loophole" for the FA/salary cap era that was supposed to create parity. Parity is league management's biggest priority. The current Pats have been able to master free agency & the cap; they get bargain deals on great vets who want "the ring," and other teams are not able to compete with that, at least as long as the Pats have Brady & BB.
To the league, that's an unacceptable situation. It only stands to get better for the Pats this offseason, as other FA's look at guys like Moss & Seau, and New England becomes the place to go to get the "ring". The timing of this story in particular is a way to potentially defuse that, and hurt the Patriots efforts in the offseason & in the future.
If you've ever seen Rollerball, it is similar to the situation with Jonathan E.
After watching the special on Kraft, I felt bad about this story, and bad for him. Guys shouldn't be punished for knowing how to do things the right way, and being successful. That's really not what America's about.
Anyway, just this troll's 2 cents. I was rooting hard for the Giants, and still want them to win, but won't feel as bad if the Pats win now, because what is happening right now is just wrong.
