Russini & Vrabel Nothing to see here?

What he said today will do nothing to tamp down this story. More with come up.
It is going to tamp down as a natural consequence of everyone having something else to talk about come Thursday night... it'll ramp up again if/when the Patriots do indeed trade for Brown on June 2.... Eagles fans are having conniptions over this wanting a League investigation so if/when the trade actually goes through, the talk will reappear...

You indicated that she cannot sue
Where did I say that? I said she has no legal basis to sue. I stand by that statement.
because in your view there is no basis for such a suit.
In the law's view, there is no basis for a suit.

She engaged in unethical behavior which justified her employer conducting an investigation (something they have every right to do so). Prior to that investigation completing, she resigned.

That's the key point here which you seem woefully unaware of: SHE. RESIGNED.

She has absolutely zero basis to sue her former employer.

He didn't admit anything. And he didn't apologize

If you actually believed he apologized for an affair, then you have to believe he was dishonest when he told the public these photos and evidence were "laughable."
So would you feel better if he said the words I apologize?

Nonsense. Vrabel was sincere, contrite and accountable in his statement, admitting he made a mistake in as many words. He came clean on it earlier with the players.
What did you guys think he meant by "difficult conversations with people I care about," family, friends, coaches, team staff; that avoiding distractions starts with him, etc.? Who does he owe a PUBLIC apology to -- and for what? His tone/tenor was sincere and contrite, tacit acknowledgment that he messed up while it remains a private/personal matter. His one mistake was his initial statement but today essentially put things to rest.

"Admitting he made a mistake" could be "admitting he had an extramarital affair" or it could be "admitting he created a situation that could be viewed as if he was having an extramarital affair but he was just hanging out and talking to an old friend". Both admit mistakes, both are difficult conversations to have. We don't know if he came clean (sic) or not. Actually, Diana does, the rest of us don't.

I have seen hundreds of political comments in here and not responded to them, but I'll be damned if some evangelical who supports pedophiles and rapists is going to preach his sanctimonious ******** without getting called on it. Don't like it? Too bad.
Who XLIX voted for has nothing to do with the thread but again, you're deranged and there's nothing anyone can do to change your mind. "Don't like it? Too bad." Okay, tell that to Ian and the mods who constantly have to tell you to tone it down so we can keep the thread open.

I know it's shocking that we'd have to say this, but let's leave the politics out of the thread about the head coach allegedly having an affair with a reporter and the Patriots allegedly trying to hush it up. Thanks!
Agreed and thank you Mike. This is a place for sports not political BS.. what is driving me crazy is... the NFL already put out that they aren't any longer looking into the matter.. the media can't seem to leave it alone. Ugh..

We know why the media won't leave it alone: clicks during a very slow period, the lead-in to the draft, a draft where there is very little drama.

Yet here it seems the issue is that a few of the virtuous elders on this board know the virtuous young men who play the sport of football are very concerned about their immortal souls and need the sinners in their midst to offer a full and frank confession so that they can move forward and work together on their virtuous goal of saving everyone's immortal souls, unified in heart, body and soul. Amen.

Press conference where no one can listen...
Great...

Great points Bill. I'll add that Vrabel & russini are 2 consenting adults whatever, if anything they shared is between them. Vrabel's getting treated like the Ime idola situation.. it's nothing! Tom Curran I've heard went on private trips with BB and he's a media person!

Mike Vrabel is a Catholic and there are Catholics on the board. Discussing an affair or the perception of an affair as it relates to our common religion isn't some crazy reach, the way "LALALA YOU VOTED FOR A PEDOPHILE OPINION DISMISSED" is

Somehow I doubt you know much about Vrabel's views on Catholicism and how they compare or relate to your own.

I am a first generation son of immigrants from a very Catholic country, and all I can say is there is not a lot in common with my extended network's takes on Catholicism.

I can say there were more than a few who didn't think having an affair would damn their souls to hell, or anything like that.

In general I'd say they do agree that confessions should be done in private, and not at a press conference.

It's the same Catholic Church it has been for 2000 years, whether you're devout or not so yes I have a pretty good idea regarding his "views on Catholicism" if he is one (as is widely reported).

Religion aside, when we hear news about our favorite celebrities, athletes, whatever, we tend to want to relate their experience to us. If Mike Vrabel were Jewish then I, as a Catholic, would be less interested in this story. But since we share that common thing it interests me and I share my thoughts about it. If I were a woman in the journalism industry, then the Russini part of the story would relate to me more and instead of talking about Catholicism I'd probably be lamenting the effect this has on women in my field.

It's just the nature of a message board I guess.

Small details may vary from person to person but it takes a special type of moron to believe the Vrabels are polyamorous swingers, perfectly content with the other having sex with whomever they choose.

Even the Pats know he is lying/were told the truth because of the B.S they played today. Oh two players will be here to talk, then when the time comes James and then Vrabel who tells them to turn the mic off and has a pow wow. Never seen that before and if I were the press I would have up and left and told him to F off. Then the next time he was available, I would ask him nothing but questions about what happened.

After thinking about it more today, this was a joke and a slap to everyone's face. Just man up, say you boinked her and lets all move on.

That’s a scary thought that it’s the same Catholic Church it has been for 2000 years, that it hasn’t changed at all after all the accusations and findings against them.

One giant nonanswer neatly crafted by a horde of PR lackeys and crisis managers.

Purely conjecture on your behalf.

Apparently, you are their target audience.

So were you, as it was his only press conference on the topic. Did you watch it, or just cherrypick reports to serve your agenda?

1) Besides an affair with an "invested" football reporter
2) And coordinating an alibi with his paramour
3) And offering a false statement
4) And blaming us for our laughable stupidity not believing his lies
5) And enlisting the team to cover his ass
6) And offering up a non-apology

You keep invoking this concept of Vrabel owing you a public apology for a personal and private (apparent) transgression. And you've built a six-point case for condemnation, making it pretty hard to root for the guy or the team he coaches with his job remaining secure. I understand the Jete are accepting fan applications, you might be more comfortable there going forward.

If we're going to insist on banishing any player or coach that broke one of the ten commandments, there's no need for concern about games being played on multiple streaming services; you'll have trouble finding enough people to field and coach a team. On the upside the networks will no longer need to invest in a seven-second delay for bleeping out words that violate the third commandment.

I was disappointed honestly. Because he said the photos and speculation was "laughable." Really he should have just said nothing originally and not been dishonest. And today, if he's gonna say something he's got to apologize for saying it was laughable that we'd have speculation about this situation he put himself in. This makes me think he went pretty far with this and was dishonest to the public.

If all he did was meet up with her, he originally should have said it was a terrible decision/mistake I made. Because he hardly said anything today and didn't apologize, it's tough not to conclude the worst.

Hopefully he's correcting the "laughable" comment with his players who probably know better by now.

Hopefully he and his wife can work this out.

So, yeah, I'm disappointed. This was a speech written by a lawyer for a politician

But I'm praying for him and his wife.

So would you feel better if he said the words I apologize?
He wouldn't have to use the word because you can apologize by admitting your mistakes, sins, and bad decisions
