Rule 17 Section 2 Article 3 (CONGRESS Getting Involved???)

As the article said, "highly unlikely". But then again, what's the point of having that rule.

My rule of thumb is that you should never put yourself in a position that you need the refs to bail you out. Saints had an opportunity to not only stop the Rams on the final drive but win the game in OT. They wouldn't be complaining had Brees drove down field and scored a TD. They probably would've had another ceremony just for him.

They should have listened to Belichick years ago when he urged the comp. comm. to expand the review process.
Today, Collinsworth said that on Dan Patrick. There is only one penalty that can change a game and that is pass interference. He said give each coach 2 challenges for the PI plays.

Not a chance this gets invoked for this situation. Goodell would destroy the league if he was stupid enough to do it.

heh....overturn the final score???

hey LOOK! Up in the sky!>>>

No chance. Even if called, there's no guarantee the Saints win the game (ask the Seahawks about first and goal on the five, or the Patriots yesterday).

So what would the "reversal" do? You can't recreate the situation.

You got screwed on that call. Sorry, but **** happens.

So have any Saints fans started a lawsuit yet ... those are always a fun read.

As I have said many times here ...
If one call costs you a game then you didn't make enough plays to win.
Because it can happen in any game of any sport ... have a cushion ... just in case.
Saints should have been up by 2 TD's if they had played to their skill level.

The Commish has the power to have the game replayed from the point of the changed call. Not going to happen, of course (nor should it!), but it is theoretically possible.

We all know that Goodell never does the right thing. To my knowledge, he's never admitted to any mistakes made by the NFL and the list of those mistakes is longer than the number of games Josh Gordon has lost to suspension.

Just to name a few:

- Kareem Hunt
- Adrian Peterson
- Ray Rice
- DeflateGate

I'm going to guess that "unfair acts" would be defined as acts designed to alter the outcome of a game in favour of the agent. A ref who blows a call (unless because he's been bribed to do it or has some other incentive) isn't benefitting -- the unfairness is just in the outcome, not in the agent.

Would you really really want to set the precedent; and thereby give Gotohell the ability to use this new found power to punish other wayward teams like those who 'have a home field in the North-Eastern US' and are "guilty of egregiously complying with the law of gravity to the detriment of the league."

I wonder if the league will tell the refs to go easy on the Pats to help “make this go away”. Wishful thinking

Here's the thing. When the league comes out and immediately after the game apologizes for a blown call, the league is admitting that it would have affected the outcome of the game. |

And, since it IS in the Rules that the Commissioner can order that the game be replayed from that play onward, I would think that a really good lawyer could make the argument to compel the league to replay the remainder of the game. And they DO have a venue they can use for it next weekend..

If this happens Arlen Specter might come out of the ground and get SB39 replayed.
