So I didn't want to say it and jinx things, so now that I don't have to worry about that...what happens if he signs for $40M fully guaranteed and then holds out next year? It's not like he'd be risking any money. I can see exactly why the Pats reportedly were willing to give him "guarantees" but not as much fully guaranteed money as he was looking for, and I guess in the end it unfortunately sounds like that was the difference.

That wasn't the issue. It was guaranteed money.

Revis is playing the percentages and no longer wants to gamble on the year-to-year provie it contracts he has been signing to this point. CBs start to wear down right about now. He basically wanted his current salary locked in for three years and by all accounts got it.
