Did he just sign with the Jets? I must have missed it. He was set to become a free agent since he signed his deal with a ridiculous 20m option for year 2 last season.

The only other option was striking an extension early which was hopeful but unlikely. This was going to happen all along.

He can still be a Patriot and probably wants to be one if the offers are close.

I never said it is a trivial amount of money, but it certainly didn't reach the level of 'crazy' for me. It is a lot but in the end you pay for what you get. He should have three elite years in him barring an injury of course.

But that's the point. This is the NFL, you can't disregard injury. It's crazy not to build some injury protection into a contract.

If the Jets are willing to do that, then I'll gladly take their first round pick for tampering, trade down, and pick up Marcus Peters on the low end of the 1st.
