Reports: Carr being shopped; Murray to go #1 overall to Cardinals (Rosen likely on trade block)

If we like Rosen, I suspect that our first offer will be a compensatory 3rd, then a second, and then maybe our first.

How about a second round pick? His value has plummeted, there aren't many teams looking for a QB now, and they'd probably rather spend a first on a fresh QB, not one that just had a horrendous rookie year.

From the Carr article:

Usually Florio is a good writer, but this article is all over the map...probably should have read it more thoroughly, rather than skimming, before posting it.

Why don't you like him?
I don't want to see a valuable draft pick spent on a benchwarmer who has very low odds at becoming an impactful player for the Patriots in the future. Don't like his character too. He's mostly likely just another 1st round QB bust.

Rosen could be great with a couple years in our system as a back up, but I would not give up more than number 97 for him.

Jesus, I can't wait till this clown is in a Redskins uniform. Then all this Rosen infatuation can flame out. It's ridiculous. He's not going to be a Patriot, and we should all be thankful.

I am really averse to bringing in Rosen. There's something key about the first year of a QBs development. Sure there are guys like Foles or Gannon who seem to eventually 'get it' but then there's a million Bradfords, Losmans and Lynchs who I think need the right start to their career to have a chance to succeed.

That being said, if we trade for Rosen I wouldn't mind being proved wrong.

I totally agree with this point. For the most part QBs that don’t perform well in year one never turn it around. There’s a false narrative that most QBs make a huge jump from year 1 to year 2, but that’s not true. I’ve even posted some long threads about the second year jump being overwhelmingly BS with a handful of exceptions to the rule.

But for the Patriots, we are looking at another anomaly, a team who never drafts in the top half of the first round and had to trade away their second round steal because the timing didn’t line up. For them to be able to get a talent like Rosen, with the great coaching in NE and Brady as a role model, I think that makes some sense. Rosen was one of the highest rated QB prospects ever coming out of high school and probably would have been the #1 overall pick most years. They spent a 3rd on Ryan Mallett, and Rosen is a better prospect with less character issues.

I just don’t think Rosen has it, I’d pass on him but I haven’t seen a lot of Rosen so it’s a small sample size here.

I am pretty stunned that the Cardinals are suppposedly willing to give up on Rosen who they drafted #10 overall in the first round after only one year.
I know that Klingsbury loves Murray, but still, by giving up on Rosen they are losing value and they must be convinced that his ceiling is not high.

I would be surprised if Patriots bite. By the time Brady retires Rosen could be ready for free agency.

IF the Patriots think Rosen is the real deal, getting him for the #32 would be a steal for BB & Co. If they don't think he's the real deal, there's not an issue to worry about.

This is about KK & running his system to the fullest. Baker, Mahomes, Murray all fit that type. I'm sure KK like most new coaches said something like this. "If you really want me, want me to feel comfortable I need my guy & we get him w/e it takes".
Kliff is really an interesting hire & I imagine will want to do everything possible to make sure his O has its QB.

There are still plenty of teams needy. Washington is a perfect spot. QB that might not be the same or even play again. Tons of dead $ w a cheap rookie QB.

Weird...so many are really, really low on Rosen, but Darnold was also hot garbage but everyone thinks he’s going to be good. It appears that Rosen was playing for a semi-pro team that got invited to the NFL for a season. The Cardinals were absolutely horrible, and starting him under those circumstances was a suspect decision.

But what I really don’t understand is the preference for Murray. This guy fits the classic mold of great college QB who won’t cut it in the pros. He’s 5’10”. I couldn’t find highlights where he made NFL style throws. A lot of razzle dazzle and ultra athleticism that gets neutralized in the NFL.

I wouldn't give up more than a 3rd for Rosen.
