Report: Mac was reaching out to other coaches about his frustrations with the offense

I am sure that a lot of it coming from Judge and Patricia. I don't think it was a coincidence that several former players like Wilfork, Edelman, and Law within days of each other started to trash Jones for his attitude. Since then you have other former players who have sided with Jones like Faria and Ninkovich.

Word is most of the players love the guy and actually supported him during when he was acting out because he was doing what they wanted to do. Word is that David Andrews is not a fan of Patricia because Patricia stripped him of a lot of his abilities to change blocking assignments at the line. We know several of the receivers were not happy with them. I am sure Patricia was not happy that they had media people like Warner, Orlovsky, and Lazar doing videos pointing out how poorly designed his plays were and most of them talking about how Patricia was doing Jones dirty by setting him up to fail.

I mean even most of the fans and media that do not think Jones is ever going to be a good QB concede that Patricia was such an awful OC that he set Jones up for failure. So he doesn't even have the anti-Mac crowd on his side.

This year has pretty much destroyed, Judge and Patricia's careers. I think both might have a hard time finding jobs after Belichick retires. Neither guy is ever going to have a shot again at a head coaching position after this. I wouldn't be shocked if they have tried to play up Jones' attitude to make it look like he is just uncoachable and it wasn't all their fault for the offense.

I just don't understand why pointing out facts = being a hater.

That's a troubling trend on this forum. Saying that Mac is top 10 in worse INT% while being bottom 6 in TD% is just stating facts. That doesn't mean you are a hater, sorry.

I get that there were issues w/ OL, OC, etc. but they aren't unique to the Patriots. Scoring was down across the league. Herbert's numbers regressed dramatically and he had similar issues (worse OL, just as bad OC). There are others (Brady w/ OL injuries & poor play calling). No I'm not trying to compare Mac w/ Brady or Herbert. They are all NFL veteran QBs. You only get 1 shot at "rookie season." Mac played poorly. Brady played poorly. Those are facts despite whatever OL, OC issues they had.

I disagree. I think the coaching situation for the Patriots’ offense was completely unique. The Pats had hands down the worst offensive coaching situation in the NFL. Yes, there are a lot of bad offensive coordinators in the NFL, but the Patriots were the only ones that had one that didn’t even understand what it takes to run an offense.

I know you don’t agree with it, but Matt Patricia was the worst OC in the NFL last year. Hence why he is being replaced after one year and the owner made it sure to the public that he knew how bad he was (without actually calling him out by name).

Add the fact that the coaches didn’t support Jones at all. From leaks that Judge preferred starting Zappe to Belichick adding fuel to the fire to the QB controversy by refusing to bad Jones publicly, Jones was undermined all the way. Yes, a lot of it could be by his doing. But only Zach Wilson got less support from his coaches.

I heard somewhere that JJ had it out for Mac after he made the following statement during training camp. Couple that with recent reports that MP didn't let Andrews change blocking assignments at the line of scrimmage to complete the complete the shocking lack of confidence either had as leaders. It is one thing to fail while doing your best, it is something else to sabotage everyone around you to try to hide how bad you really are.

"He has knowledge that is very beneficial to me as a quarterback, and obviously I'm going to learn with him," Jones said this week. "That's the goal, is to kind of, you know, teach each other and move along and take what he knows and then take the experiences that I have and combine them and work together as a great team."

What recent reports about MP/Andrews blocking assignments? First I heard this.

would like to see the source as well
i mean, i can't imagine Patricia is forbidding andrews or jones to adjust the blocking and play accordingly on the field as a reaction to the defense
that would make 0,0 sense

What made any sense about the Patricia offense this year? Hell, the last game showed that it was an absolute crime he didn’t have Mac Jones do play action under center when he went 9 for 9 for nearly 100 yards and a TD in that game. And even then, he went 7 for 7 with a TD in the first half and only did two play actions under center in the second half. Patricia was an unmitigated disaster.

first time i read this here honestly

Bedard has talked about it a lot on his Tuesday appearances on Felger and Mazz. Haven’t you heard the Gang of Five which were the five players that were the most outwardly against Patricia in the locker room. Andrews was one of them.

Andrews, Henry, I believe also Meyers and Bourne but am not sure. It's all in Bedard's BSN stuff and 98.5 Tuesday spots. This stems from Patricia "streamlining" (dumbing down) the offense to something he and Judge could manage with their limited knowledge/experience. In the process, a lot of finer points from McDaniels' system a la LOS audible options from both Andrews and Mac were dialed back.

i wonder why belichick did not interfere at this point when audibles etc aren't "allowed" anymore.

Because he handed the offense over to Patricia/Judge to run in a way that could work for them. McDaniels' system was too complex for them and that was part of it.

Like Josh doesn't have other things to worry about..getting a call from his ex QB complaining.. Mac is a whiny little twit, hope he is gone.
You will be disappointed so imo

Yes, it was Mac, Henry, Bourne, Andrews, and Meyers.

To be fair those 23 pages include the standard AFM (Additional Forum Markup) that automatically adds 5-10 pages to added to any topic to debate Mac vs Zappe, Brady being the best all time or BB being the worst coach ever. I think this thread hit the trifecta.
Agree, and we should see discussion of the Flying Elvis uniforms sneaking in any minute now.

Actually it would explain a lot of the failed blocking assignments this season. Usually it is the QB or C who changes up blocking assignments at the line depending on the look the defense is giving. If Matt Patricia sabotaged Andrews ability to call changes, that really tells the tale of why the OL failed to make the right blocks at times. What a total MORON!

Yes, it was Mac, Henry, Bourne, Andrews, and Meyers.
If true, I would be disappointed in them. Complain to the coaches, complain to Belichick, then just do your job.
