Report: Kraft has had discussions about potentially moving on from Belichick

So, you root for the Pats to lose and to fire BB? This is the team, this is the coach and Mac is the QB, if you're a fan with no control over any of those decisions, don't you still root for the team to win?
Of course I root for them to win but I'm a realist. After watching the **** show Bill has put on the field since 2020 based on 100% of his decisions; I have little hope he can turn this around. I'm certainly not going to put on blinders and make believe everything will be fine like a lot of folks here do. If he can magically turn this around I'll be the first one to eat crow. It is what it is.

OMG I did not need to read that. Always thought of them as cute and harmless.

My mom used to feed one outside our place to the point that it visited her daily and would follow her around when she left the house.
I have a lot of great squirrel stories from my time playing golf, both funny and sad. Hawk sightings were also interesting.

You never said that you weren't rooting for the Pats. That's just the way that "they" see it when you dare criticize Bill. I don't get why. Criticizing coaching decisions has been a part of sports forever.

The most surprising thing that Bill has done has been his fire sale approach to stocking the team the last few years. I'm tired of seeing former Patriots starring, and winning, for other teams while Bill struggles to replace them.

BB drafted #12, he also drafted HOF’er Richard Seymour.
And yet Bill dumped both of them over money. Btw, one of those moves was followed by 10 years without a title, even with the GOAT QB, and the other is 4 years and counting if they don't turn it around this year.

The real brilliance of Bill's drafting of the GOAT was that he knew he could wait until the 6th round.

Give me an example where he’s been an ******* to fans. Media? Sure. Fans, no.
Every presser is an insult to the media and the fans. You actually enjoy his non answers to simple questions?

The media is the fans's eyes and ears. And the fans get to hear the mumbles and grunts. Personally, as a fan, I find it obnoxious.
I disagree, but that's ok. I feel the media has an agenda, and servicing the fans is not at the top of their list. I think he handles the "gotchya" media appropriately.

To some extent yes. But I feel that the media is always going to push for the angle that is the bigger story. Belichick failing and the media speculating on him getting fired is a much bigger story than him fielding a potential playoff team.

The story is how awful Bill is without Brady. So many people brushed aside his Cleveland says, saying he was a young coach and still learning. Well, he has had more games in NE now without Brady that he had in Cleveland and his record is still sub .500.

If I can expand in my earlier reply to raduray, I don't believe the media is the conduit to the fans anymore, like it was when we relied on daily newspapers. There's plenty of content available where you can get information. I don't have a problem with him not answering lazy reporters questions. He's not going to give any bulletin board material, or any other info that could be used by future opponents. So that means sometimes he will be evasive in answers, give non-answers or coach-speak. We've seen how innocuous statements like Brady telling Harbaugh in the media that the Ravens "better learn the rule book" get used against them when the Ravens then dropped a dime to the Colts on the BS air pressure in balls thing. I think the media's agenda is to sell clicks, and there's no Will McDonoughs in the world anymore. Now it's a race to be first, and, as I said earlier, too much "gotchya".

So, yeah, I don't have a problem with how he handles it, most of the time. I have barked at the TV occasionally after big losses when I am mad and want answers, but I get why he does what he does. I can live with it, and I certainly don't want to fire him because his the polar opposite of Bill Parcells to the press.

I disagree. Agenda or not, its the medias job to ask questions. Questions that fans would like to hear the answers to. Bill just scoffs at these questions. I find his entire routine un-professional. It's kinda refreshing to listen to so many other coaches actually answering media questions. I suppose pats fans got used to knowing very little about their own team as long as the team was winning. Now, it just looks arrogant, ridiculous and obnoxious.

See my post above in reply to 1960 for a further dive into my feelings on it.

This is where I am at. I would gladly have Bill prove me wrong and show that he can build a team that can win a playoff game without Brady and he can adapt to today's NFL. I just don't believe that is a possibility based on what he has done the last few years. It isn't just the bad drafts, bad trades, whiffs in free agency, or questionable coaching moves at times. It is the consistent lack of foresight in very key spots. No plan for a QB after Brady. No plan for an OC after Josh. The fact he can't figure out the guard or tackle positions while letting guys walk (or traded). Bill always used to be one step ahead on these things and now he is so far behind consistently and starts chasing it and throwing good money after bad.

The anti-Belichick crowd falls into two camps:
1. It starts with the Brady drama, the Gronk trade to Detroit, the starving Tom of offensive talent, and everything that has followed since his departure. Absolutely valid.

2. People who said Brady was washed, it was the Belichick ‘system’, we were going to be fine without Brady, team-Jimmy-G, now just subtly reversing course and potentially wanting to be terribly wrong again for all the probably wrong reasons (game has passed him by)

I’m sort of between camp #1 and just keeping him.

I agree with all of this but to me it goes deeper. I've been saying since early '21 that Bill, at his age, just can't reach this new generation of players. The old autocratic style of management doesn't work with these younger players. We saw how OL and skill players tuned out Fatt Matt's old school methods. We saw how Tua reacted to being coached by Flores and his turnaround with McDaniel. Mayo has helped with this (he spoke about generational diversity last season) and probably why the D remains engaged. Obbie is another old school hard ass but at least he knows his **** and has recently dealt with college kids.

We've seen Bill try to keep it going by hanging on to old dynasty players, a year too late, to help with the translation of his ways to these kids. It hasn't worked. All of this at least partially explains the myriad of bone headed mistakes and penalties this team has committed these last few seasons that have cost them many games. They have not bought in like they did in the past. Some of it is lack of younger players stepping up to leadership roles.

It's really amazing how many posters still believe Bill is the same coach he was in his 50s and can perform . Maybe, but the players aren't the same and that disconnect matters as we've witnessed. It's only going to get worse. It's time for a reset or the option is the definition of insanity.

Brady played here twenty years, you act like he played his rookie year and was gone. Brady left as a free agent after playing in 4 Super Bowls and winning 3 of them over six years… the result from “going all in” was massive cap and a talent drain.

The biggest reason they went ten years without a ring after 2004 was them having to pay their QB top of the market money after his rookie deal… the salary cap exists.

Seymour stuck around a long time also, he also wanted top of the market money. They had Wilfork and Ty Warren. They shipped Seymour out then paid Warren… and immediately Warren suffered a career ending injury. As soon as you can predict injuries let us know.

I think we all heard multiple players along the dynasty run talk about how Bill treated Brady the same way he treated everyone else in meetings and how that resonated with them. When your team leaders buy in to what Bill is selling and drive that message you can keep it going. Once that alpha dog is out of the locker room and no one is rally the troops on the player's side that is when things started to falter. There are so many things Brady allowed Bill to do and allowed him to maintain and the message just isn't landing anymore without Brady.

This stuff is a conundrum ...
Mac is supposedly Kraft's man.
Yet Kraft rumored to maybe move on from Belichick.
One reason the Patriots suck is because Mac sucks.

So you sack Belichick people ...
one of these things is not like the other.

You sack Bill. Let the new GM hire the HC and let them decide what to do with Mac.
