As us Pat's fans all know, 2001 season was magical. Starting off 0-2, losing our 10 million dollar QB, going to a 6th round back up, just amazing season.

Just comparing Jimmy G's starts to Brady's first few starts, Brady's first start wasn't as good as Garoppolo's 1st start, though the Pats crushed Indy, Brady threw for 168 yards, and was more of a game manager than big time QB in that first start. 2nd start, a disaster against Miami (odd coincidence, Garoppolo's 2nd start is against Miami, hopefully way better results).

Brady's 3rd start, was really a break out game for him, and reminds me more of Garoppolo's game vs the Cardinals. A late come from behind victory.

Man was that season amazing, think about it, they may have been the first 0-2 team to ever win a SB. Brady went 11-3 as a starter in the regular season and 3-0 in the playoffs, 14-3 overall in his first season as a starter. How crazy is that, downright dominant. Though his first year in the league, the defense came up big. We are gonna need that in support of Garoppolo as well, great defense.

1993 Cowboys did it first... only other team to do it was (reference deleted to The Game That Shall Not Be Mentioned).

Here's what cracks me up. Brady has said that it was the Miami game where he truly realized that he was good enough to play at a high level in the NFL. Miami was still the class of the division at the time (finished with the same 11-5 record as the Pats that year but lost division and bye on tiebreakers). They had the best record in the NFL post-merger at that point. As you said, Brady didn't do great that game.

But Brady said after the game he realized (paraphrasing), "*That's* the best the NFL has to offer? Yeah, I played poorly, but that's because of x, y, and z, and I can fix all of that, and once I fix that, I can play with these guys and beat them." That always struck me as interesting and odd, that it was the beat down that gave him the most confidence, not the other games.

Ought to be an asterisk next to the'93 cowboys. That was the year Emmit Smith sat out two games in a contract dispute.. an 0-2 start ended the contract problems and they came roaring back...
