Reiss proposes transitional tag for High

Two thoughts, not about Hightower, but about Reiss:

1. Putting on my Reiss translator hat: I realize he's framing it as speculation, but rarely is he this assertive with his opinion when he doesn't have sources. (I'm thinking, for instance, somebody clued him into the Floyd thing in advance.) I would all but take this one to the bank.
   
   
2. Mike Reiss is the man. Not even a hint of slack in his Patriots coverage post-Super Bowl. The Sunday notes in particular are consistently killer.

As against that there hasn't been a single successful use of the transition tag in the last two seasons. Charles Clay got tagged and lost and Vernon got tagged and untagged.

Chances are you don't want to match any offer and then you lose the player without any compensation.

Maybe this leak is a Patriot's negotiating strategy?
