Ravens ask for permission to interview McDaniels

That was game was lost at the end of the 2nd quarter when the Pats had their feet on the Colts collective throat and then pissed away a golden opportunity to go up 28-6. Then they couldn't find a way to get 4 yards and close out the game in the 4th quarter.

The defense collapsed yet it was the offense that was revamped this season.

34 points was enough to win that game, or it should have been since the Patriots were the #2 scoring defense last season. The game was lost because the defense couldn't do a damned thing from the last Colts drive in the second quarter through the third quarter. The Colts took the 4 drives in that span and put up 24 out of a possible 28 points. Six scores (4 TDs, 2 FGs) in the Colts last 8 possessions (other than the kneel down) is how the game was lost. Just take a look at the starting field position for those Colts drives, all on the Indy side:

The NFL needs to institute a new rule whereby no team is allowed to do this until the teams involved are finished in the playoffs. This is just some distracting BS.

Indeed, indeed. This stinks. What an unnecessary distraction. Get on the beam, NFL! Maybe the new commissioner can actually do his JOB, instead of prancing around making dubious calls.

I know Brady really likes him and they were together in Michigan days, everyone wants to minimize what he has done.. but someone still calls the plays and someone coordinates what happens on offense.. personally do not think he is ready, and would like to think of him as heir apparent when BB retires. many of the same qualities, most obvious very football intelligent.

Brady went to University of Michigan. McDaniels was a coaching assistant at Michigan State University under Nick Saban.

One thing that will work against McDaniels in coaching searches this year is that if Pats go on to play in the superbowl as many expect, a team that wants to hire him will have to wait till the end of the season before they make an offer. Not many teams would want to wait that long because they lose other coaching candidate options by then.

I would trade McDaniels for Reed straight up

If it were possible, that would be sweet. I like McDaniels, but I think the offense has gotten to a point where Brady controls a lot more of what goes on than it appears. Coach on the field, like Peyton.

Yea man. Ever see those two talk on the sidelines? Brady does most of the talking.

why doesn't the NFL have a rule that you cant talk to any coaches/coordinators until after the season is over? it seems to be a big distraction for playoffs teams.

Even if he's not going anywhere (and I don't think he is- ) it's not bad to have the experience of interviewing for a HC job. I have a feeling that he'll heed any advice that BB gives him having seen the results of a certain coach in the Meadowlands and will follow it wrt whether or not to interview...Remember he's young at 31. It isn't like Romeo who was in his 50's when he got a shot at being a head coach.
