I got this idea in the Hightower thread. I think it would be interesting for everyone to give their opinion of how certain players on the Patriots rate at their position.

Here is a start.

Brady- GOAT
Edelman- I think he is a #1 Receiver probably in the top half of #1s, ie top 16.
Gronk- #1
Bennett- top 10
Solder- top half of LTs
Hogan- near the top of #3, ie somewhere in the 60s of all NFL WRs
Thuney and Mason. Both in the range of good enough to start on most teams. 45-60th among Gs
Cannon- In 2016 he was a top 5 RT

HT- Best LB in the NFL
Butler- Avg #1. Somewhere from 10-18th.
McCourty- top 3 FS
Chung- Good enough to start. Top 50 of all safeties.
Nink- 3rd in the rotation on most teams 75-100th
Flowers- starter, not #1 yet. 30-50th
Ryan- middle of the pack #2 about 48th
Rowe- same range as Ryan, but not as proven
Brown- solid starter 40-50th
Branch- top 10 DT (but probably declining)

Generally agree, with following exceptions:

Edelman--IMO you slightly underrate JE. I put him in top 10 for overall ability to get open, short range quickness, etc.

Butler--ditto, I have him min at top of your range vs middle.

Hightower--tough one, and a good debate. My first reaction was #1 no way, too high. Luke Keuchly was better 1-2 years ago, what about Bobby Wagner, Von Miller, Bowman? But now, all around, HT could be tops..

I thought JW proved himself all season long...reliable and good

And, DA struggles with injuries, but he is simply clutch when he's in there.

So, I would prefer them over bigger/more expensive name players.

I will give my Madden Ratings (1-100). 100 is highest level it is humanly possible to play the position and 1 is the worst someone can ever be while still somehow being in the NFL. BTW anything 90 or above is clearly HOF and arguably 85 even. Also this factors when 100% healthy. 50 would be a completely average player on an NFL 53 man roster. So a starter should score higher than 50. Ideally 60 or more. Also this only factors in how guys on the whole played this year.

Brady 97 (hardest spot to play well so harder to score 100 here)
Edelman 80
Hogan 73
Mitchell 63
Gronk 97
Bennett 77
White 70
Blount 53
Develin 61
Solder 71
Thuney 63 (hard to grade him this year)
Andrews 50
Mason 80
Cannon 92

Flowers 80 (Was unsure how to rate him for the year)
Branch 81
Brown 73
Sheard 56
Long 55
Nink 53
Hightower 89
Collins 72
McClellin 45
Butler 90
Ryan 79
Rowe 77
McCourty 89
Chung 80
Harmon 75

I only factored in players who played 30% of snaps for us on the year.

Just some Internet guy's opinion, but SI did a "redraft" of 2016 and put Thuney in as a first round pick.

So we sorta got one still in 2016.

Doing it this way, keeping in mind that Madden ratings max at 99, an average starter is about 80, and injuries do not affect the overall rating:

Brady 97
Edelman 89
Hogan 77
Mitchell 73
Gronk 98
Bennett 87
White 77
Blount 81
Develin 89 (for a FB)
Solder 87
Thuney 79
Andrews 80
Mason 84
Cannon 91

Flowers 85
Branch 89
Brown 83
Sheard 77
Long 78
Nink 78
Hightower 94
Collins 89
McClellin 73
Butler 92
Ryan 85
Rowe 77
McCourty 95
Chung 89
Harmon 81

I'll go the Madden way as well.

Gronk 97
Bennett 84
White 77
Blount 80
Develin 72
Solder 83
Thuney 79
