Yes, Green Bay was never a large market and Ron Wolf was an exceptional GM.

My optimism for his son is rooted in this fact.

Right, I just recall that Green Bay never was a big player in free agency and relied on drafting really well for their success.

Right, I just recall that Green Bay never was a big player in free agency and relied on drafting really well for their success.

Reggie White was their big ticked FA (1993) and Andre Rison during the 1996 season, but he had some really good drafts that set up their back to back Super Bowls.

Signing a FA to help put a team over the top is the way to go, not building a team though it. Wolf relied on drafts and trades (Favre).

I agree that Groh is in charge of evaluating college talent, perhaps including scouting.

For me, perhaps incorrectly, I believe that Wolfe will make decisions with regard to evaluating NFL talent and in making decisions regarding signing players, and in choosing the 53man squad.

Perhaps this is semantics; if so I apologize. However, to me, regardless of title, being in charge of player personnel means being in charge, in some way, of NFL players, more than evaluation of college player evaluation.
