i dont think the pats made him a offer because he went public and said he wants top dollor

If he still has the legs (nobody can really tell until he is competing) then id be all for it.

Like others have said though only as a number 4 or 5 on or close to the vet min.

On a side note, how does Megatron now compare to a 2007 Randy Moss??

Id take 2007 Moss but dont think there'd be much in it!

Moss running a 4.35 seems far fetched but I absolutely believe he can run 4.5 or under. Him being a freak is the only thing that makes that possible. I don't care how hard someone like Torry Holt works at age 35, they're not maintaining anything close to their peak speed.

The issue is can he run it in pads coming off a jam with Revis in his hip pocket??

Bill spent the last two seasons building a scrappy, mentally tough team with no quit in them. After living through an entire season of Brady and Welker pressers pleading for "guys" to push through what ever was ailing him...to no avail. He had that same chip on his shoulder the entire time he was here. More often than not lugging it around hindered his game, as it has throughout his career. There is a lot a baggage crammed into that chip. This is the same guy who was underwhelmed with the tepid interest in him last year to the point he officially announced his retirement. Now he's just bored and jonesing for the rush and attention of playing the game again. His own agent was clueless this was coming and he has no idea what shape he's in. Randy isn't likely to be interested in auditioning, either. That will be his first test of your worth, taking him on his word and believing in him. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a third time...you must really believe I'm an idiot.

Thinking Moss can run that fast is not that far fetched. I have a buddy, who was a track star in high school and college. I'm talking 4.3 forty, 4.13 minute mile, and now at age 30 he is just as fast if not faster. The science of training has come along way, and I'm sure moss has top notch training going on.

Go back and take an unbiased look at his last season. He has lost the spring in his legs that made him outstanding. That's the reason he's not in the league anymore. Without his freakish leaping and athletic ability, he's pretty average, as he was that year.

The leaping ability seemed to be pretty much gone by 2009, let alone 2010.

Well, I've always liked Randy, but times have moved on here. If he wants to come back then thats fine. Give him a workout with stipulations first though.
1. A contract for the min, with a see ya clause if he doesn't perform as expected, and quickly. That being said, the next phase would be...
2. A handshake, box lunch and a bus ticket as compensation.

I think a more accurate equation would be Moss > = Ocho for the Patriots. Just to be clear this is now and for the patriots. Moss' was a much much better wr for their careers but I actually think Chad would provide a lot more value to another team than Moss would at this point.

I keep posting it but to me we have 3 spots occupied Wes (I assume we tag if we cant reach a deal), Branch (he wants back, no need to create a third hole but lets move him down the depth chart), and Edelman (who might be vyeing for a STs only spot but I will include him here until there is no more room).

That leaves 2 spots one of which should be extremely aggressively filled whether that is one of the top FA wr or a top draft pick I dont really care. The other spot should be a cheaper but more reliable option someone who knows the system, a player in his prime but not top tier, or a second top draft pick (not both 1s but maybe a one and 2). I think Moss could fit into that last spot as someone who knows the system and as odd as it sounds could be relied on to fill a small specific role as well as serve as a back up but I also think there are other options that are better.

My preference
1) Welker
2) Top tier FA or rd one draft pick (perferably top tier FA as the draft pick might not be ready leaving us with Branch in the top two again) Would be awsome if this guy actually could equal or outproduce Welker but lets be realistic.
3) Branch
4) Lesser FA option or lower draft pick (if the FA is good enough they could move Branch done). This is where Moss would fit in though I think we could do better I would be fine with Moss so long as 2 happened.
5) Edelman/Slater/other STs options some or all may be vying for STs only roles but until we sign and draft a combo of 3 guys I am leaving Edelman on the WR depth chart.

To take it a little further I actually think I would prefer Brandon Lloyd and a first round pick to fill 2 and 4 though that would make me rework the above depth chart to look more like 1 Welker 2 Lloyd 3 Branch 4 1st rd draft pick (hopefully he slides into 2 but not going to put him there as I dont know him yet) 5 Edelman. This is my preference because I think it is the cheapest way to infuse talent into the WR postion (A fairly cheap FA option and a draft pick shouldnt eat to much cap) leaving more money for the defense.

Since the Patriots name was not included specificlly I am assuming we were not one of those teams as I doubt the agent wouldnt have dropped the Patriot name if we were one.

Dropping the Patriots name as a team that's called would probably drive other teams away because of Moss' past stated preferences, so mentioning the Patriots would be a mistake for the agent.

Segal wouldn’t give away what teams have called. He expected some teams to show serious interest, while others were just curious. Segal isn’t sure if Moss will work out for teams because he hasn’t talked about it at length with Moss.

In fact, Segal said he learned about Moss’ decision to unretire by reading PFT.

This would actually be comical if it weren't so annoying and frankly sad. Randy's lonely, said as much on his latest Mosstv broadcast. I caught 10 minutes of it just out of curiosity, one of the 400 odd souls on average who bothered. He misses the camraderie. I think the SB tipped him over the edge. I think playing Mr. Mom is getting old. He can't do media because he spent his life alienating them. So he doesn't have access to former players in season except via twitter. He needs a hobby or second career that is somehow NFL related. NASCAR ain't cutting it. You can only fish or mow so much hay. This is a little like what happened to Favre every year for the last couple of seasons. They forget the grind (if they ever paid it any serious attention) and long for the feeling of belonging and the adreneline rush of playing in front of millions on Sunday.
