I’ve been monitoring the forum for the last week or so, as I have been awaiting my approval to post. I hope you guys don’t kick me out of here to quick lol.

I realize there aren’t many Rams fans out there, and I haven’t seen any come to this board. I’m from Missouri and grew up during the GSOT era. It killed me when they moved away, but it was still the same group of players and I had no reason to abandon ship.

This game will hopefully be sweet revenge from 01. I think a lot of you guys are underestimating this Rams team.

I’ve read a lot about how much respect you guys have for Aaron Donald. I’ve seen how little Goff is respected. There seems to be a lot of confidence that the patriots D is going to hold up.

I understand why most don’t fear Goff. Most people can’t get over the Goff they saw under Jeff Fisher. One thing I haven’t seen a lot of talk about is the play-calling of Sean McVay. McVay is our biggest weapon on offense. Considering the noise won’t be near the factor it was in New Orleans ~ I would be surprised if the Rams didn’t score 30.

My biggest question is how will our defense hold up. While talented, they have been very inconsistent. They seem to have kicked it in another gear over the last few games.

Should be a great game..nothing like having your team in the SB. It’s a fun week. We aren’t used to this lol. Prediction Rams 34 Pats 24

If I were from Missouri, no way would I follow this team.

I am genuinely interested in why you still like them. The Patriots almost moved to St. Louis back in 1991 and I was on record as saying, if they move, I will definitely not be a Patriots fan.

When the Whalers moved from Hartford, I not only didn't follow them, but I rooted against Carolina every chance I could.

It’s hard to say what you would do until it happens. I have never been a Chiefs fan and all of the sudden jumping on their bandwagon wasn’t an option.

The Rams roster remained the same and I had followed every draft, FA move, and trade for years. I couldn’t not watch them

This makes me wonder if there are any people in Baltimore who remained Colts fans...

Like I said, it did happen to me when the Whalers moved.

Having a great play-caller is a plus. It’s even better if you have one under center.

I think a lot of the Goff disrespect comes from the view that Goff without Kupp is a different guy than Goff with Kupp. I don't think McVay can scheme around that. If Goff comes up big this Sunday, I'll tip my cap to him.

Regards,
Chris

I think a lot of us have been talking about McVay's playcalling in that he apparently feeds it all to Goff and leaves him no room to make his own decisions. I think there's a good chance the Pats can take advantage of that. However, I think there's also a good chance Goff has a great game and makes our defense look bad. Bortles has done it this year and I highly doubt he's up at the line calling audibles and hot routes.

It boils down to which Pats defense shows up on Sunday. The one that we saw on the road (yes, even the AFCCG--31 pts in one half is pathetic) this year, or the one we saw at home this year. There's talk of this defense having improved over the season in general regardless of where the game is played, I can see it but I'm not sold yet. That exact narrative was dominant going into last year's Super Bowl and our defense turned out to be frauds.

Good luck, but not too good, of course. My ancestors are Rams fans (from Illinois in the STL area), so I've always considered it one of my favorite non Pats teams. Like last year against a very likable Philly team, it won't be the worst thing in the world losing to a team like the Rams.

Knowing what you do as a Ram's fan, how should the Pats attack the Rams defense?

Signed BB

Welcome to the board.
You started out right for a good response and Patsfans doesn't kick many posters off, certainly not the respectful ones. ('If Jetsfan79 can make it (stick) here; anyone can make it here!').

I vividly remember the "GSOT" SB. Me and one other Pats fan in a Kuwait deployed big screen tv morale tent full of Lambs fans. I know the feeling of others underestimating your team. But I don't sympathize enough to wish you luck in your payback. Pats worked hard for it back then and hopefully will this time too.

I think the betting line steadily increasing in pats favor has some folks feeling 'inevitability'. Of course that is silly. And on a board like this week with no opponent posters we can get the homer resonance effect going. So give us some solid critiques on our homerisms.

Both our teams have a little Jekyll and Hyde. Ours has been putting on clinics since the playoffs started but threw out some stinkers early. Yours started strong, but has been a little mortal since you lost your slot guy. So both sides should wonder a little: which team will show up?

Tell us your thoughts on lamb flu, covering White out of the backfield, who has Gronk, Gurley status or anything else. It will be interesting.

I think Goff has had enough games to figure it out without Cooper Kupp. Kupp was absolutely the most productive Rams WR. I was very impressed with the way Goff handled himself in New Orleans. That environment alone was brutal.

As far as the Rams defense...the weakness absolutely is the linebackers and run defense. Kamara had a monster game receiving, and I think James White is a legit threat this game.

I fear Sony Michel more than anyone though. The tear he has been on is worrisome. I know we stopped Ezekiel Elliot, but I feel a lot of that was because Dallas was one dimensional. We weren’t going to let Zeke beat us. I think Michel has a big game.

We wouldn't dream of kicking you out, as a Rams fan you're too rare a commodity to be casually cast aside. Seriously, who doesn't love a unicorn?

How far back in Rams fandom do you go? StL, Chris Everett, The **** or to Hacksaw?

This makes me wonder if there are any people in Baltimore who remained Colts fans...
A very interesting question.

I assume some folks who are now in their late 40s and older either stuck with the Dolts or sold out to the Ravens

I was in my early 20s when Orthwein wanted to move the team. Not sure what I would have done TBH.

My dad is a Giants fan. Probobly would have sold my soul to follow that basket of deplorables

It's true there hasn't been a lot of respect given to Goff. However we have never seen many young QB' s facing a BB defense for the first time have much success. Also the Rams run defense is not good and the Pats seem to be peaking as a dominating running offense.Edit- I apoligize to the
Rams and the football gods because I was wrong. Goff did play against the Pats in 2016 and lost badly hopefully he doesn't remember much about that experience.

Looking forward to a good game. Feel pretty confident but we’ll see what happens.

If Rams can get pressure up the middle and stop Brady from stepping up, it would be huge for your team. They are going to have to play the run like they have the last 2 games which I’ve found impressive considering they were giving up 5 ypc up until then.

Patriots have also had a resurgence on defense, the secondary has played good in all facets and team defense vs the run has improved. Gurley will be the test of the season and for some reason I’m thinking Woods and Cooks are going to have a good game if they concentrate on taking TG&CJ away.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by. Good luck.

Connection to team is more about the connection to players . If they move it's not players fault.

Regarding prediction or underestimating rams.. mcvay is definitely a wild card for them but so is Goff in the negative sense. Young QB in SB can be recipe for disaster. Hopefully that is. Look at mahomes last week in his home stadium first half was example.. home crowd and referee calls brought them back. And a bomb.

This week we shall see what tricks will be thrown out there by mcvay and whether Goff can pull them off.

Welcome to the board.

The knock on Goff is consistency. He can have freakishly good games, and then equally bad games. The Pats D is not the most talented, but Belichick will read and exploit tendencies better than anyone in the NFL.

The Pats D evolves from game to game. It has improved over the course of the season (at times it was flat-out awful) and is playing its best football now. The Rams have to be able to counter whatever the Pats throw in terms of defenses. The losses to Philly and Chicago came as a result of 14.5 ppg in offensive production. The Saints simply outscored them, so the defense failed. You have to believe anything to be gained from the analysis of the defenses of the Eagles and Bears losses will be incorporated into the defense.

I don't expect the Rams D will hold the Pats offense to under 30. The Pats put 41 on the Chargers, and the Chargers have a much better D. The Rams have to score more than 30 if they want to win this.
