Guess when a team is that bad, every cloud(loss) has a silver lining.. here is the SF press talking about how yesterday was a moral victory, not sure if they are talking about the same game that we saw... in case they missed it, about 3/4 of the game was garbage time..

Raiders blown out by Patriots

12-14) 21:37 PST -- It was Moral Victory Sunday for the Oakland Raiders, a team grasping for whatever hopeful straws remain in yet another 11-loss season.

"There's a lot of good out there," Cable said with a 3-11 record hanging over his interim title. "Now, we just got our tails kicked. I'm not trying to get around that. But the fact of the matter is the quarterback had another week of progress. Offensively, we moved a step closer in terms of a unit.

Yea Im sure they watched the same game we did, but just through Raider-fan glasses. Im sure after 6 straight failing seasons with at least 11 losses you start to see things differently than the rest of the NFL.

Don't they realize that they will never win anything with Russell as QB? The guy is a joke.

I think the Raiders ruined him.

I think the Raiders ruined him.

I was never that impressed with him. I think he's a too far from the modern version of the successful QB (accurate, cerebral, and composed), and is more along the lines of Culpepper. Raiders certainly don't help things though

If I were a Raider fan I'd be feeling anything but a moral victory. The Raiders weren't prepared to play this game. Ironic, considering the rash of injuries on the Pats.

They lost to the Patriots by only 23 points? Yeah, OK, guess that could be considered a moral victory.

If you were the Lions.

If Tom Brady was healthy.

If the Patriot defense wasn't so ravaged from injuries.

If... oh, never mind, Just chalk up another MV. If those counted, the Raiders would have another 3 Super Bowl Championships.

Chumps.

I think it shows just how important coaching and organizational stability is in the NFL. The Seahawks, who had a similar record to the Raiders and about the same level of talent (better receivers maybe), kept the Patriots a lot closer because they have Mike Holmgren and they DON'T have Al Davis.

What was he going to say? "Not only did we get our butts kicked but absolutely nothing good came out of the game and I wouldn't blame our players for losing hope and not showing up for the last two games?" The guy's just trying to keep the team in one piece for the end of the season. It's been so long since the Pats were in that position that we forget what that feels like. Cut him some slack.

What do you expect them to say? When you're a bad team you look for any and all positives and try to build on it.

That's what I was thinking. He is a textbook example for why the league needs to do something about these idiot rookies getting $60 million contracts before they ever set foot on an NFL field.

Then again, since he's playing for the Raiders, it doesn't bother me that much.

I just thought it was funny this weekend when I was reading Patriots Football Weekly and even they were slamming Al Davis in the game preview section. Usually PFW gives a lot of props to the opposing team in that section no matter how bad they are. But this week they were ripping on Davis for refusing to modernize the defense, and Russell for his work ethic.
