Player Signing Raekwon McMillan re-signed

I doubt we'll see a spending spree like we did in 2021 this year (or maybe ever again, that was a pretty specific circumstance), but they make periodic free agency splashes at regular intervals it seems. Think Rosevelt Colvin, Adalius Thomas, Stephon Gilmore, Darrelle Revis to a lesser extent, etc. So if they really like Edmunds, I could see them making him their big ticket name. Could also be a high end OT, or maybe if they do trade for Hopkins, that's their big "signing". But they're not averse to spending top of market for guys they like, they just don't make a yearly habit.
Yeah I doubt it as well... I'm sure the jonnu Smith contract has to have RK pulling his hair out lol.

However if the team does acquire a big name I'm going to have to think it has to be offensively.. we can add a few pieces to the front 7 and be fine... we just need to sure up the CB position..

So next week we'll all see what they do..

Right now we have 158 mill of cap room next year. (And pretty much the whole cap in 2025)
So either we dive in big this year, by backloading deals or we will be the biggest free agent spender in history next year.

Well if that's the case is the team looking at this as another bridge year? In order to get to next off season? If so I don't think that's conducive to winning.. we lost 2022 from self inflicting ego driven decisions.

Ownership feels as though they want to win now.. I see them making a move or possibly a trade.. but it's hard to see them having the mentality of loosing franchise's we've seen over time..

What?
How does having a lot of cap room now and a boatload next year make you think bridge year? Whatever that is????
Every team wants to win now or as soon as they can. No teams are saying let’s take some time off and win later.
The Patriots are in rebuild. It started in 2021 (because it couldn’t in 2020 due to the cap).
21 was a nice step, making the playoffs, 22 was a step back, which often happens in a rebuild.
There is plenty of cap room this year, and tons in the future, which allow them to spend bigger this year than this years cap would imply. They have about the best draft resources they’ve had in ages.

Thank you, I'll actually agree with u this time!

Mike Brown / Cincinnati Bengals would disagree with that lol...
The Bengals who went to the SB 2 years ago and almost returned this year?

no, the bengals who cut their scouting sraff to 6 guys, and have drafted in the top five twice in the past three years bengals... mike brown is notoriously cheap, almost bill bidwell like in his dealings...

Then you have the infamous suck for luck campaign the clots waged...

But anecdotally some baseball teams have been more willing than football teams to cheap out and just collect checks

Being cheap isn’t deciding to not win now and try to win in the future. It’s trying to win cheaply.
The Colts knew they weren’t winning that year, as I said try to win now or as soon as possible.
Again baseball teams being cheap isn’t an example of a taking time off now and winning later, it’s trying to win with the resources they have and failing.

why would you want a guy with diabetes to be drafted?..and a Demarvian Overshown would be open to a myriad of name insults if he sucks...Delousyan Undershownup....no thanks...I want guys like Tank Murdererer and Buster Innamouf...
Any guy name Buster is good for me

i disagree. if you are unwilling to expend on resources, it says to me the status quo is fine. thats not trying to win, its treading water, slowly sinking until they *won* the #1 pick

tanking is tanking.

No but the clots were, and you just moved your goal posts...

nice chatting with you ring.

This is where conversations go off the rails.
I was responding to a comment that since the patriots have a lot of cap space in 2024 would they have a “bridge year”.
I said trans don’t give away this year in order to win next year.

You brought up things that didn’t apply TO THE TOPIC.

I pointed out those examples do not apply.

You disagreed they don’t apply , when they clearly don’t, because they are bad too.

As far as the Colts my original comment was team try to win now or as soon as possible.
Restating my words of my argument is as far from movi mg v the goalposts as exists.

How about we do this, let’s agree that teams don’t have bridge years, but some teams also value other things more than winning.

He played the 6th most special teams snaps on the team last year, that's who he is. They should find a really fast agile weak side LB in free agency or the draft for him to groom. He is an experienced player with good instincts, they need someone with athleticism to make this defense faster.

I remember McMillan making a bunch of plays in the 21 camp/preseason before tearing the ACL. Still a young guy, hopefully he can step it up from depth guy, ST-er. No-risk move so i'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.

A teacher is only as good as his student

good mood andi

This happens a lot with you, doesn't it?

If it keeps happening to you, maybe its not the other person that has the issue "going off the rails"
