So here's the scenario....this guy at my work is willing to bet me $200 for this upcoming game. No point spread or anything, just a straight bet. Lol crazy right? But I'm also curious to see why he remains to be highly confident that the Texans will win. Clearly, I took the bet, because I'm a Patriots fan. Obviously if the Texans pull it off, he could look like a genius. I highly doubt that Watson will pull it off, especially since BB had them in for 3 days scrimmages and a preseason game. Does anyone have an idea as to how the Texans are shaping up for week 3?

Here is the problem. Patriots have 1 healthy receiver in Cooks. Hogan is banged up, Gronk is banged up...Burkhead has some kind of rib issue (even though he returned to play on ST).

The Patriots defense has communication issues and the LB group is pretty slow.

The Texans defense is pretty good...and IMO the Saints dropped a couple of easy INTs last week.

I think the Patriots will win, but there are plenty of scenarios where the Texans win.

Betting on a Patriot game is bad juju. See if he is interested in making bets concerning teams you do not care for such as the jets etc lol.

Not bad juju for me. I made $500 during the Superbowl last year and $30 last week.

Plus, Marcus Cannon is apparently out.

I'd take that bet!

But as the other posters mention, the team is really super hobbled now. But the secondary is healthy and I've heard Houston has no passing game, no real quarterback, etc. The Pats might only need a single score to win and Tom Brady is still on the field.

Still, it wouldn't be a bet if you couldn't lose.

Honestly, my 3 concerns were D-High, Dola, and Cannon. Hopefully they play this Sunday

High practiced today. So did Dola. Ditto Gronk and Rowe and Dorsett.

Take the bet.

You can always just put some money on the Texans and arbitrage that **** out of this..

What I heard was that he didn't really participate and he's more likely to be 3-4 weeks.

I think Gronk, Amendola and Dorsett play this week. High and Cannon no. Cannon is also in the concussion protocol.

So with this bit if news, will our defense be able to hold down the rookie QB and the rest of the Texans offense?

Stranger things have happened, but it would take an excellent defensive showing by the Texans to pull it off.

Belichick is 15-5 vs rookie QBs, but there have been some poor ones who beat him such as Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez. No one here in Foxborough, yet.

All of the rookie QBs to beat us have had both an Elite DEF & a strong rushing attack. At the moment, HOU has neither.

I'm not saying HOU CAN'T win...

I'm saying they WON'T win...

I've got to ask, who makes a straight up bet when the current spread is 13.5?

If you were to bet the Patriots straight up at an actual casino/sports book, you'd have to put up -1100 dollars just to win 100 bucks.

I bet his internet handle is Fourier Series. I'm thinking there's a pretty good chance that he ducks you if he loses, or at least tries to convince you that the Texans "really won the game" somehow.

He is stupid to offer that bet.
You would have been stupid to refuse it (assuming the guy is on the up and up)

I hope the Texans win now.

God I'm an awful man...
