Question about Seymour trade

I think we have a semantics issue here. I'm no expert. I'm getting most of my info from experts in this thread. I think the issue is the difference in the terms "completed" and "finalized".

From what I can gather from the conversation, the deal is COMPLETED when the league recognizes it as a legitimate transaction. It is FINALIZED when the player takes his physical. The ONLY way the deal can be unraveled from the Pats side, is if Seymour FAILS the physical. Barring THAT specific caveat, the deal is COMPLETED and any action mandating Seymour to report has to come from Oakland.

Very well put. Seymour is now a Raider. If he was still property of the Pats then Oakland could do whatever they wanted with the 2011 pick like trading it for Peppers. The league approval of the trade is the hitch pin.

For all we know the Patriots got Oakland to waive the physical and reporting requirements in anticipation of some sort of holdout. Bill's cryptic "we traded the rights" statement could be indicative of that.

Yeah, but if you play the recording backwards, it sounds like "Al......is..... dead".

If this continues, maybe the Raiders will trade Sey back to the Pats for a 2012 7th round pick.

Of course. By then Al will have realized that 7 is 6 better than 1.

The forum is the big winner in all of this. We haven't had to endure meaningful Maroney talk for three days now!

So is Seymour refusing to goto Oakland or what? Does he have any power to hold up the trade process?

Well, according to Adam Schefter:

At this time, Seymour's options are to report to Oakland or to sit out. Sounds like New England is out of this, with Oak's 2011 1st rd pick.

There's been meaningful Maroney talk? :idontgetit:

Maybe the reason the Patriots asked for a 2011 draft pick was

they figured out that it would take Seymour that long to report

to Oakland.

Maybe he is walking to Oakland.....

Man i live down the street from his MiniMansion .... trust me i wonder who put the Mini in front of that mansion when i saw it. I looked one of the house
in that community last year and i realized i am missing a few zero`s from my budget.

I personally tend to think of it as a DeathProof reference since I wasn't alive in the '60s
