QB Sanders not attending the draft

I don't know what to think about Sanders. I was watching some of the Hunter highlights and noticing how he had to make spectacular adjustments to poorly-thrown passes. Watching this made me think that Sanders was way overrated. But then I saw one of Mad Mel's rants; he thinks that these throws were the result of Sanders having to run for his life behind a bad line. And then the news that he nailed his private workouts made me re-think Sanders.....maybe in a good system, he could be excellent.

Sanders, in any other year, is a mid Day-2 pick. I do think there's lots there to work with in a developmental way, but he shouldn't be a day 1 starter by any means, and he's going to be way overdrafted. He needs to strengthen his arm, and develop better pocket presence, and get better at multiple reads. That's true of most QBs coming out, to be honest, certainly nothing unfixable.

Hunter made him look much better than he was a lot of the time, but that o-line was 2024 Patriots-level.

I don't hate the player, I just hate him in the top 10. Much like Will Campbell, I don't hate the player, I think he's probably a bottom-half first round guy in any typical draft, I just hate him at 4.

Personally, if I was in any of their shoes I would not go.

At a moment like that I would much prefer to be at home with my family and closest friends.

On top of that I would be expected to give Roger Goodell a big hug. Talk about unwanted touching.

On a side note, I don't think anybody was expecting Sanders to go in the top three - so I don't understand how "this doesn't bode well for our pick". It's irrelevant.
I was going to go with a like but the Roger Goodell statement put you over the top!

Shhh, don't tell this to the "brain trust" at the Giants. Sanders is the answer to their every prayer. The next Phil Sims...

In the old days, meddling owners were a godsend to the Patriots since you could count on them to do the Wrong Thing (pick the bright, shiny trinket) and BB could take advantage of them. I am counting on the latest Mara iteration also being a meddler....now if we could just get muzzle of the Patriots meddling (?) ownership. I remember the Ernie Accorsi days; every year the Giants would make a dreadful first pick followed by excellent picks in the following rounds--a sign of meddling ownership--give them the first pick and then let the professional do their job.

This is unlike Deion as the cameras would be on his son the entire first round until he got picked.

What's interesting is that Jalen Milroe will be at the draft (Jaxson Dart was originally attending but dropped out). Only guys expected to be taken in the 1st round are typically invited, so that adds to the intrigue,

I was so looking forward to the long faces and the talking heads making excuses for their buddy Deion.
Ya imagine 4 hrs of listening to that … would ruin the night

He knows he’s not going top 5.
Well we’re on to Jeanty.
Deon must be getting bad intel on his son
If Shedeur was going to go in the top half of the draft. He would be there
Once he starts dropping below that.
It would turn into a **** show. With a constant Shedeur watch
Deon is saving his son from that bad look

I mean, it's the right move. No one wants to be Sad Aaron in the draft room. Hell, they *still* show that on Rodgers highlight reels.

People want to **** on Deion because he's Deion, but he's doing the right thing. It's good advice.

He can go anywhere from 3 (two if any of the rumors of a trade up are remotely true) to early second round. He doesn't want to be Aaron Rodgers having the cameras flashing to him after every pick to see his reaction.

I wouldn't read too much into it. It just means there is a lot of uncertainty where he is going since if he doesn't go two or three, he may not go until 21. Better for him not be there and get drafted 3rd than be there and the optics of him dropping.

"Must work on: leadership." Not something you want to read in your first round QB's scouting report. It's ridiculously hard to develop in the pros. It's one of those you have it now or you don't deals.

It's almost as bad as giving a huge new contract to your 'franchise' QB with an incentive for 'studying the playbook'. If you EVEN THINK you have to write that...maybe don't give the kid a huge new contract.

Tom had it DAY ONE as a sixth rounder. There are just guys who GET IT. Those are the guys you want at QB.

If this was last year, Sanders is not getting drafted in the first round.

He's getting drafted first round this year simply because this draft is light on QB's and there's a lot of teams that need QB's and eventually one is going to feel like they just need to get him because the other options won't make a big enough immediate impact.

Oh the stuff we will hear from Deion if his kid goes undrafted…hilarity incoming hopefully…

Shadeur Sanders is absolutely getting drafted. He's definitely not a top 5 pick, but he's absolutely the 2nd best QB in this draft.

Oh I’m sure he is but the nonsense we would hear if he wasnt would be soooooo entertaining…

I suspect that NO and maybe PITT disagree.

I will not be AT ALL surprised if Dart is drafted before Sanders.

I would be shocked, because that dude is actually garbage. Not in the 'he's overdrafted' kind of way. In the 'Danny Dimes 2.0' kind of way.

This is beyond beautiful. Are teams finally wising up, if just a little, about the QB position? Guys like Sanders are available every year. "He run fast, he throw far!" Who cares? In the NFL, decision making and accuracy are the most important traits.

Look at pre-2007 Brady. Dude made his living in the short to intermediate game. That's because he had the processing speed and the accuracy that can't be accounted for by defenders.
