McCluster with 20 reps. There's some energy packed in that little dude.

That's impressive considering the size of the runningbacks who did more than him. (barely any more reps, too)

Mathews running in the 4.4's his stock will rise....I still love Gerhart in the 2nd round as a pounding back and his 4.5 speed won't kill him as he is hard to tackle....

This years running back group is more athletic. Last year the small guys were slow and the big guys were really slow. This year there are several big guys in the 4.4-4.55 range and a couple small backs that can fly.

Either Gerhart or Ben Tate would look good in the second round.

I'd love to see Tate here, and given his combine performance he may be worth trying to nab with the last 2nd, or maybe trade back to the early third and see if we can steal him there. Wherever he goes I think he will be an excellent performer. If we miss on Tate, I think Joique Bell, and maybe Montario Harding could be good choices in the 4th or 5th rounds. I don't like the way Gerhart runs so high though, I don't think his upright style spells success between the tackles in the league. Tates knock is making people miss after getting through the hole, but is touted as an excellent downhill runner (bye florence, unfortunately we knew ye' well...you tap-dancing, oil-handed, putz.)

This RB class has only one A grade back (Spiller), but so many B grade backs I hope the pats take one with our last 2nd.

At pick #53, I expect the the best runningbacks available will be:

1. Toby Gerhart
2. Ben Tate
3. Montario Hardesty

I would be fine with any of the three. Ben Tate would probably be the safest pick.

I also like Tate. I've watched him excel in the SEC. He runs hard inside and outside. Good vision and balance. He can catch and could develop into a decent blitz picker upper.

I've seen Mathews in two games and you have to be impressed with his balance as a runner. Not a lot of experience catching the ball or blocking.

The only thing is even running high noone could tackle him...I know the NFL is a different animal but he may adjust and lower his pads once he gets schlacked a couple of times....Anyways he is tough as nails and doesn't dance in the hole which is what we need

Hardesty running as well as he did greatly suprised me. Moeaki too, but we'll keep to RBs. Watching Tennessee play, he struck me as a slower guy, 4.6-4.65-ish, although a good back.

The other guy I've been trying to keep tabs on is Lonyae Miller, who has been one of my intriguing under-the-radar guys I'd like to get in the closing rounds.

I think those three would be better for us than Spiller or Best. Tate has better burst and is faster overall than Mathews. Hardesty and Gerhart can really move for their size. All three have similar sub 7sec 3-cone times. Personally, I like Hardesty's build and shorter powerful strides. I think all three are better than all the backs from last year.

Maroney's upright running style was a red flag going into the draft. Unfortunately for him he's gotten nicked a bit so far. All of which have certainly hurt his production. So pad level is a big concern with these guys. Joique Bell should'nt have any trouble witth his pad level. Well unless he has pumps on?

So, apparently, some think the Patriots could take QB Kafka out of Northwestern in the late rounds.

I like how the Patriots draft QBs. They look for accurate guys with quick releases. Having watched Kafka, I'm not sure what the scout sees since Kafka is not that guy. He reminds me a lot of O'Connell. Lots of mobility, strong arm, but long release and not very accurate.

Tim Hiller.

Jus' sayin'.....
