Pundit mock drafts 2027 [with FAILs]

25) New England Patriots
Jamari Johnson, TE, Oregon
With Hunter Henry entering the final year of his contract and turning 32 years old in December, New England may be in the market for a new tight end next year.

Oregon’s Jamari Johnson is far from a complete prospect. Still, judging him off the flashes he showed fans and scouts in 2025, perhaps the Ducks have another top tight end prospect on their hands following Kenyon Sadiq’s first-round selection.

Johnson’s game is built around his size, as the 6-foot-5 tight end provides an elite catch radius, limited drop rate, and is a hefty task to take down 1-on-1 for defenders. He’ll see a large increase in usage compared to last season, and if Johnson can make the most of his TE1 role in Oregon, he very well could be the TE1 of the 2027 draft class, too.

Johnson is the clear TE1 for 2027. Have discussed him extensively since last year. He won't last until 25, but he could easily be BPA if he did.

This would be a dream mock for me:
Unless Colin Simmons or Dylan Stewart are within reach, Jamari Johnson is as good as it gets.
FWIW, I think that mocker basically misread the roster, claiming Raridon is the only TE they have under contract for 2027 (at a minimum, they should be getting Hill back next year). So this might have been a case of "let me use the Patriots to solve my draft issue."

Not a pundit, but a pretty good 3 round effort by someone on Reddit:

They have the Pats taking:

25. Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana
57. Taylor Wein, EDGE, Oklahoma
89. Terry Moore, S, Ohio St.

I love Becker, but can't take him over some of the defensive options available.

My redraft:

25. Sammy Brown, LB, Clemson (35)
57. Chris Cole, LB, Georgia (81)
89. Ashton Hampton or Demello Jones (not mocked). Though Clev Lubin (90) and Justin Scott (91) very tempting.

A few thoughts:

1. Safeties high. He has 3 safeties going 1st round: Tae Johnson (14), KJ Bolden (15), and Jelani McDonald (22). These are all worthy players, but the NFL tells us over again that safeties go later than projected by draftniks (Malachi Starks, Nickel Emmanwori, Brian Branch, Dillon Thieneman, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, etc.).

2. DTs low. Conversely, the league values tackles. A'Mauri Washington, Will Echoles and Justin Scott too low, IMO.
