Forget the garbage pick (which was still a great play and nice to see)' I'm talking about the blocked FG.

Page had the presence of mind to subtly swat the ball forward to keep it in play as he was on the ground. Pretty sure that's a penalty when done obviously, so the fact he had the smarts and savvy to pull it off is a testament to his football IQ and BB's relentless situational football coaching.

Those are the type of hidden heady plays that were a staple of the Super Bowl teams. Let's hope they are back to stay.

time to move page up the depth chart and see what he can do

I didn't notice too much of his safety play minus the pick. Which could be a good thing. Depending on the Meriweather injury situation, you might get your wish sooner than later though.

I am happy that we got Page from KC.....Especially since BM is injured (not sure how serious yet) but Page is a very Capable Safety to fill in and play well.....I was impressed with BM tonight though as his aggressiveness served him well like on that play out of the wildcat where he shot the gap and helped stop Ronnie Brown for a loss.....

And, indeed: I've been pounding the table since Opening Day ~ as several have ~ that we need to exercise patience, because I expected this D to gel by mid season, and to start rocking by the end of it...but not last night.

Last night, they far exceeded my expectations.

I saw the Page acquisition as looking (in part) to fill the McGowan role -- clamping down on the TEs in particular. The upcoming stretch of games will certainly be a test in that area.

That's because the Dolphins offense was on the field 75% of the time. Of course they are going to get lots of yards. Did you miss the 3 special teams/defensive TD's? 4 if you include the blocked punt. Whenever a team runs so many plays, they are bound to get lots of yards.

No he doesn't, but Page's tackling remains terrible. And during the Ricky Williams TD, he was blown off the play by...Brandon Marshall.

Color me unimpressed thus far by his play on defense.

Bologna. I don't know if Jaws/Gruden got the defensive plan right, but if Sanders and Chung were double-teaming Bess inside/outside the way they characterized the coverage, then Chung overplayed inside and got burned when Bess went back outside. Sanders was "inside" Chung & Bess, therefore Chung was the "outside" man ... and Bess got outside of him. As it was, whether Chung and Sanders were double-teaming Bess, or whether Chung was in Man coverage on Bess, Chung got burned.

2. Patrick Chung growing as a safety. Chung's effort to block those kicks on special teams was outstanding, but I also saw something that stood out as a defender, especially in pass coverage. On the Dolphins' first touchdown -- a 19-yard catch-and-run by Davone Bess in the first quarter -- Chung was in coverage and had inside help from safety James Sanders. But Chung got beat across his face to the outside and Bess had an easy path to the end zone. What impressed me was how Chung responded to that. He must have went to the sideline, saw pictures, received coaching, and when receiver Brandon Marshall ran a jerk route in the fourth quarter, Chung kept his inside leverage, which Marshall noticed and he stopped running his route. Quarterback Chad Henne wasn't expecting Marshall to stop and he threw the ball right to Chung. That was an in-game adjustment from Chung that you usually see veterans make. It was promising to see Chung fix his leverage issue and get rewarded for it with the interception in which the quarterback anticipated the receiver to be there.
