Projecting Monday's Offensive Line Without Connolly

BTW, my projected Monday night line up will be (from left to right):

Solder - Kline - Wendell - CONNOLLY - Vollmer

I think they are going to make massive changes. I think Wendell gets the start because first the o-line wasn't bad before he went out in Miami and second they need an experienced center to handle the silent snap count and communicate the adjustments in a loud enviroment.

I will throw up if they go with this line. I hope I never see Wendell on the field again.

Wendell did a pretty good job before he was injured. The first half of the Dolphins' game, Brady had his best pass protection all year and that was with Wendell at center. Ever since he went down, the o-line has been horrible.

I thought it was utter bats**t insanity at the time, but these days that rumor about putting both Solder and Vollmer on the left side doesn't sound like such a terrible idea that's it not worth at least a quick look. (Not like it can get much worse, right?) Get Cannon back at T because he frankly hasn't done much better than Devey at G. So, it would look like:

Solder - Vollmer - Wendell/Stork - Connolly - Cannon

Well unlike Devey, Cannon spent absolutely no time in the preseason playing Guard and then was thrust into Mankins spot. Devey took basically every snap at Guard in the preseason.

So like I said before these first few weeks are basically like Cannon's preseason at Guard only he is doing it in games that matter.

I suspect it was because Mankins was planned to play his LG in 2014. I think the trade was a last-minute affair, that upset the planning.

I agree. That said, one can argue that the timing of some of these last minute acquisitions and trades at the end of the summer have been a bit odd.

Seymour left an enormous hole that was never filled. Mankins is yet to be determined, but isn't looking too hot through the first handful of games thus far. Bringing in guys like Chad Johnson and Albert Haynesworth ended up as horrible moves as well. Maybe Belichick should stay away from any major moves once August kicks in?

I'm sure that you can a list of good/OK signings or trades after August 1. Talib and Blount are recent examples.

I will assume that you did not read the post that you commented on.

They don't fit into the criteria of "last minute" signings during training camp at the end of the summer, which is what I was speaking of, and why I included moves such as Seymour/Mankins, as well as C.Johnson/Haynesworth.

BB and I suspect other coaches plan the off season player acquisitions around
a) signing veteran FAs,
b) signing Draftees and
c) signing UDFAs.

Trades are few in the league, and BB at least, uses them only after every other exigency has been tried and found wanting. So they tend to come toward the end of TC.

BB wants his teams to have 'no holes', even if the occupants are sometimes very average players. We all perceived a hole at TE2 and S2. BB is using the three-headed S combo of Chung/Wilson/Ebner to fill one of those holes, and traded for Tim Wright to fill the other hole, while opening a vacancy hole on the offensive line.

Before making the trade to 'Get' Wright, and 'Give' Mankins, BB must have figured that he had Marcus Cannon available who could fill Logan's vacancy at least adequately. he knew he needed a swing tackle for depth.

We are seeing Cannon's growing pains, and complicated by the mysterious problems that Solder is having. But in perspective Solder has only given up 2 sacks, but has allowed several pressures. By the second half of the season, Cannon should be settling into his new starting position and contributing.

I'm not a believer Rob, the idea of Wendell facing Dontari Poe isn't one I want to contemplate.
