Gregory over Ebner. Ebner could still make it as a ST guy, we keep a few of those.

CB look good though Cole could pass Ras-I if Dowling gets hurt again.

Harmon will NOT beat out Gregory.

CB: Talib, Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Cole (or Dowling if he is healthy)

S: McCourty, Gregory, Wilson, Wilson, Harmon (or Ebner)

Ebner makes it on ST, but he is still going to be listed as a S on the depth chart

I think you went a little overboard on the capital letters there, T. Wilson beats out Gregory and Harmon is the new dime.

Fair enough. I don't believe that Harmon has any chance of beating out our #5 corner for the dime role. I also believe that Gregory is a much, much more valuable than Ebner. A. Wilson is no spring chicken. If he is injured or loses a step, we need Gregory, even if Tavon has beaten him out for the starting spot.

If Gregory isn't a top 3 safety his lack of ST will push him off the roster

CB1 Talib, Aqib
CB2 Dennard, Alfonzo
Slot Arrington, Kyle
CB3 Dowling, Ras-I
CB4 Ryan, Logan

FS McCourty, Devin
SS/LB Wilson, Adrian
FS2 Harmon, Duron
SS2 Wilson, Tavon
ST/SS3 Ebner, Nate

can't believe people are hating on Gregory like this.

He had a few clutch plays last year in big games. He should be #3 on the depth chart right now

With Ebner there as well.... I don't see where Harmon fits in. Certainly we won't be carrying 6 Safeties.

this is the big mystery!

Starting CB ....Talib, Dennard
Slot CB ..........Arrington
Backup CB ......Ryan, Dowling

Starting S .........McCourty, A. Wilson (backed up by nickel guys)
Nickel S .............Gregory, T. Wilson (while A. Wilson sits)
Dime S ..............A. Wilson comes back in
Trainee S ...........Harmon

That's 10. Cole and Ebner only make the roster if somebody else falters (including perhaps due to injury).

Have faith in..... Ras-i Dowling??

yes a question mark was purposely put there. Ras i was supposed to be this dominant physical CB which he was when he played for all of what 2-3 games or so? Hopefully he's been training and doing his hw because if he doesn't have an impact this year, he's gone.
We drafted logan ryan yesterday which great and all but Ras i was our first pick 2 years ago and has yet to pan out. I really hope that both Ras i and logan pan out for us. Would be nice to actually have depth at CB and not gasp when one of our starting cbs go down for a few plays....

I can only assume that BB has some type of faith in Ras i and thats why he didn't take a CB higher...
Idk but i just hope this kid makes it to the field and regains the faith of pats nation..

why all the hate for Ebner? was 2nd in ST tackles last year after Slater. Reminds me of everybody predicting Slater would be cut for 4 years in a row.

Slater is one of the best STer's in the league.

Ebner was 2nd in ST tackles.

The reality is that Belichick drafted a replacement for Ebner.

As far as special teams, Belichick drafted TWO top special teamers: Dobson and Ryan.

I would expect an unforeseen injury or two to resolve this alleged surplus.

I agree, it will come down to Tavon Wilson battling Gregory for the #3 safety spot and if Tavon wins it then Gregory is gone.I think Hrmon wins a spot and Ebner will have to really shine to stick.

STARTERS:

LCB Talib Aqib
RCB Ras-I Dowling, who shows up BIG time this season
FS McCourty. He plays this position very well.
SS Gregory/elder Wilson. They platoon. Two veterans.

The idea that Tavon Wilson will displace Steve Gregory is silliness. Didn't you see his playing time decline over the season last year? He made mistakes. Trevor Matich referenced this on the ESPN draft special.

The better battle will be Duron Harmon against Tavon Wilson. I'll give the edge to Harmon, a slightly smaller though more instinctive--and smarter--football player.

This secondary will be _much_ improved. Arrington and Logan share nickel responsibilities. Dennard a capable back-up. Cole in the picture.
