Plus how well the defensive unit operates as a team without anyone standing out.

Yep, in particular the safety group of McCourty, Chung and Harmon are...Harmonious? They're having a great season collectively.

So does anyone else notice how the Patriots are one of the only teams that doesn't have Pro Bowl alternates?

I've always wondered if they simply don't announce them, or if they opt to not have them due to it being a potential distraction or something.

Jimmy Graham got is based on rep too.

And Develin got it since he's the only FB in NFL...............................
Graham no question.

True on please Develin but hey...he's the best!

Can't believe Yannick Ngakoue didn't get selected. Aside from maybe Bosa, he's been the best defensive end in the league this year; yes, better than Von Miller. What's crazy about the Jaguars is that Calais Campbell and Malik Jackson deserved the selections but aren't even the best defensive linemen on that team.

I find it telling that half the Patrots contingent to the Pro Bowl played less than 30% of the game snaps. It's also telling that the team who plays the best situational football has 2 players who excel in those situations.

I know Slater has missed a lot of games this year and probably doesn't deserve the nod, but the fact his he's STILL the best at his job in the league. In every game that he does play, he seems to make at least one significant play. Take Sunday night when he dives and downs a punt on the 2. He is so tuned into the situation that he didn't bat it back like most players would (and thus cost the pats yds), but rather just did enough to stop the ball's momentum.

How important was that play? The Steeler then embarked on a 45 yd drive that end in a punt. If it had started at the 20, it would have ended at the 35 in FG range.

As far as Devlin goes, the fact that FB is still a probowl position is a joke. But Devlin probably gets the most FB snaps in the league and is likely the best of his group, so he got the nod. Great to see his hard work and dedication rewarded. It's a long way from an Ivy League DE to a pro bowl FB. Good for him (bad for the cap. )

Graham got it because of his touchdowns. Sucks for real TEs in the NFC that he is essentially taking away a pro bowl spot from them despite being nothing more than a tall WR.

.....lol

Laugh all you want, I provided a valid arguement backed up with facts. What’s your argument against?

You didnt put up any argument at all. You are just copy-pasting stats and thinking this is in some way relevant to DPOY discussions. There is a good chance Jones wont even end up being voted into the first team AP team because there were multiple pass rushers that have comparable stats but actually contribute to winning football games. Hell, he is not even the most impactful edge rusher in the conference with Everson Griffen having a great year.

Thats why mentioning Jones in a DPOY discussion is worth a lol.

You have already proven that you got no clue what the role of a TE is. Your Dwyane Allen bashing debacle has backfired so spectacularly and can be re-read in its entirety in that infamous thread.

Either go out and get yourself educated what the difference between a TE and a WR is or just give up making those posts..

Yay Devlin deserved it. How is Dmac snubbed he might be the most underrated player in NFL history.

I think first impressions go a long way, and the first impression of the Pats defense was this year included glaring breakdowns in the secondary.

Was it McCourty's fault? Or was it indicative of the season as a whole? No, but after seeing those games I'm sure many felt like 'how can we put anyone in the Pats' secondary in the Pro Bowl?'

Just a theory

My Dwayne Allen comments hasn’t back fired. He’s doing much better than earlier in season, especially blocking wise, but he’s still not a threat in passing game. I’m happy he’s doing better...

Take those homer glasses off

Just stats? Everyone knows those type of awards go to players who lead the league in stats especially in important categories like sacks, qb pressures, and tackles for loss

Chandler has been a bonafide superstar this year not only in pass rushing but also setting the edge against the run. Why can’t you admit when a player we let go has a really good season? You are so obsessed with defending every belichick gm move like he’s the gospel.

Chandler was a first round pick who did great things here in his time at Ne.

No he didnt.

Hightower did, DMac did, Harmon did, Butler did.. hell even Jamie Collins did.. Chandler Jones has not a single signature moment in his entire 4 year stay with the team. He was good value on a rookie contract but he would be terrible value at his current contract in New England simply because the added responsibilities for our DE mean that he cant just be an expensive pass rushing one trick pony.

Allen has been blocking well the entire year. The same way that Brady misses some throws or has a bad game in an MVP season you can also not expect any other player to be at his best 24/7. The game he struggled most was the one on a short week against the Bucs where the entire team struggled as well.

And you keep mentioning him being a threat in the passing game even though this is not his primary role. Keep stepping into this pile of dog **** that is your flawed reasoning.

Finally, if you want to quote me then to it properly. I said in OUR OFFENSE I take Dwayne Allen over Jimmy Graham because we have enough redzone threats and I rather have pieces that make the offense more diverse. Having Graham on the field is the passing equivalent of LGB. You know he will go out into a pattern because he is a terrible blocker and that makes you predictable.

Now if I am a team that is devoid of talent then have a consistent red zone threat is obviously more important.
