One potential concern: Jete special teams being a field-position equalizer. I believe they're league leaders in this one area. If that helps them and the Pats inexplicably turn the ball over, this game could be more of a struggle than we want to imagine.

Also as has been pointed out, our run defense being hampered by injuries plays into what might be considered a somewhat competent Jete rushing attack. What we REALLY want them to do is throw the ball, since they have no one who can reliably pass or receive.

At least the weather report is good -- low 40s with light wind and no precipitation forecast.
I wouldn’t kick it to Nwangwu.

I have faith in Efton Chism.
Not a matter of Faith. It's a matter of what positions the players can be effective lining up in.

Williams will obviously line up outside and be taking a lot of the snaps that Boutte and Hollins were getting. But that leaves a lot of snaps still. Who do you line up there?

Do they move Douglas out? Or do they elevate someone like Jiles or Webb to take outside reps?

Just the kick the ball into the end zone every time. They don't have many possible sources of 20+ yard plays. Let's remove one.

Just, BTW, this also removes one source of injuries to our own players.
Go ahead and name the player outside of Schooler who has missed time because of an injury on special teams.

Austin, Woods

I'm sure that there were other positions players who have been injured playing special teams. Ponder? Mapu"

But you are correct I don't have a list.
=========
To be clear, are you suggesting NOT kicking into the endzone against the jets?

They could be making a move to put someone on the IR tomorrow. IF they do, it wouldn't surprise me if it was Jared Wilson or Kayshon Boutte or both.
I really don’t think they’re likely to send anyone to IR unless they’re injured badly enough to be out for the season.

Anyone sent to IR tomorrow is out until at least the AFCCG, or if we get the bye until the Super Bowl, if we make it that far.

The urgency of creating a roster opening against the Jetes and Phins does not seem high enough to outweigh losing the player sent to IR for the first two playoff games. Our season is not over if we lose either or both of the next two games; it is over if we lose either of those first two playoff games. Having Boutte or Wilson for the start of 5he playoffs seems much more important than making room for a scrub to be on the roster against the Jetes.

So, you don't have a list, but you're SURE others have? SMH. Seriously. This is why you aren't taken seriously.

Which weeks did Ponder miss due to injury? Weeks 3 & 4 he was a healthy scratch.

Mapu hasn't missed any games this year. He showed up on the week 4 and week 5 Injury report, but still played in those games.

Go ahead and show me where I SUGGESTED anything in regards to kicking off to the Jets??? Maybe you should stop making assumptions when people didn't actually state anything. Or is that too much to ask of you?

I put Diggs and Williams outside and Chism in the slot. Diggs has plenty of experience there and knows how to find space in defenses.

Like you I remember using Troy Brown and Edelman at cornerback in big games, sometime you just have to throw guys out and make it work.

As far as having faith in Chism, I see people stressing out every week every game about **** they have no control over, and I'm not stressed about anything with this team because they have been coming through all season and I'm a believer in them. I'll leave onto the GDT teeth gnashed to worry.

I fully understand that IR implications. I mentioned them earlier this week when the Pats signed Jaimes. I said it wouldn't surprise me if they were IRed. Not because they need the roster space. But because the injuries could be worse than than feared. Just like with Terrell Jennings.

It's also is why I said "they could" and not "They will" in regards to the roster. With 6 players who are on the Active Roster ruled out, (i forgot that Williams doesn't count since he's not activated yet) the Pats will have 47 players with Devito being the Emergency QB.. But that means all 10 O-Linemen will be dressed. They normally only dress 8 with a WR, a TE, and an Edge player being inactive.

2 things to solve this one problem:
1. make all KO deep & touchbacks.
2. just score everytime you touch ball, so don’t punt.

Ok?

See you in the playoffs.

2 scrubs can be elevated

Also, lots of players who haven't played much might get significant reps. These might include
Gregory and Ponder should continue to get reps
Muma
Mapu
Swinson
Ponder
Chism
Dippre
Johnson
==========
That's 11 backups (9 plus 2 elevations). This kind of game is exactly what these players are for.
==========
We might even see more in garbage time:
Jaimes
Wallace
Bryant
Dobbs
Battle

Fail for Fernando?

I checked my crystal ball and found a vision of Fernando Mendoza making his way to the stage after being drafted by the New York Jets.

That seems like a great solution.

If we score every time we touch the ball it might be an epic total.

I’d be very surprised if they put key contributors like Boutte or Wilson on IR because of concussions at this point in the season. As I said, it would pretty much have to be season ending severity. Neither of them seemed that bad, although concussions can be weird to diagnose. But that’s why given the playoff implications I’d expect more flexibility to be preferred. So the only real reason to put them on IR would be to open roster space.

Vrabes may need to do that, and if he doesn’t clear protocol I think the likely choice might be Charles Woods. We have some other CBs available, Miles Battle would be enough depth for the next game or two.

Only if “Woody” thinks his mother is “hot.”

Probably copium, but I do wonder if the likes of Hollins, Landry, Milton would’ve suited up if this was a playoff game. Obviously Bouttee/Wilson just have concussions. They’ll be fine.

First two didn’t practice, but maybe they would’ve been more aggressive attempting to practice if it was postseason?
