Maye and the rookies were a little tight, loosened up in second half. I saw Orlovky on Macafee. He said the way to attack the Texans is max protect and stress the safeties second level. I don’t think anyone could be better than Maye with that strategy. Just needs 1 more second than last week. Unleash Boutte.

How many current patriots and Texans were on those teams.

Vrabel knows better than to care. Why do you?

Perhaps HOU should have lost last weekend. After all they had lost 6 playoff games in a row.
Have you given any thought to starting a thread about this?

It's going to be very mild in Foxboro on Sunday, low wind, 3 pm start, 40 degree temps.

Personally I think Drake will like this more than 20 degrees.
Seems the weather forecast has been updated. Generally I find that trends continue, so it’s more likely to get colder and more snowy than to go the other way between now and game time. Might be enough to affect a team that’s not used to playing outdoors in winter weather.

I'm not worried at all about "ex-Pats" stuff. That mattered more when we were a perennial SB team with a staunch stable coaching staff under BB. Over the last 5 years we've had so much turnover and crappy talent pool - so guys like T. Brown, Berrios, Bryant, Speed, J. Andrews do NOT scare me at all. Neither do Caley, Schupliski or little McDaniels... because Josh "Skywalker" McD has supervised all of those guys. Plus - with the additions of Marrone, Thomas Brown, Downing - we have a lot of new blood with adjusted philosophy from the old school BB way.

The Pats gave Caley his first NFL job in 2015.

He has worked directly with McDaniel's. Its not that big of a deal. The 2001 NE offensive playbook was on the web free for whoever wanted to download it. Only a dumb team like the Raiders would keep everything the same after each season. If You recall, when Gruden took the Tampa HC job and they faced the Raiders in the SB. Gruden knew every call and play because the Raiders never bothered to change them.

The Pats are too clever.

Also if your scheme is heavily dependent on people not knowing what you're doing each game, you have a bad scheme.

Even a scheme that's known for its disguise, well, I said it right there: it's known to disguise.

The whole goddamn point, whatever your scheme/system, is to execute it at a high level. Is it a plus to have the element of surprise or something? Yes. But, invariably, you need to operate as if they know your moves.

It can't be overstated enough how bad Rodgers mobility was Monday. He was a statue in the pocket. That's not going to happen with Maye. He adds the running and escapability element.

I think facing a team like this is good for the Patriots. Win or lose, it will highlight offseason needs. And for the record, Pittsburgh just gave up in the 4th quarter. The Patriots will never do that.

Foxworth thinks the Patriots won't score any points. He is probably so caught up with what the Texans defense just did to Pittsburgh. They are elite. However, each game is different. Momentum does not carry over to the next game. Each Sunday in the league proves that.

Wild that they signed that jackass. Metcalf dropping a pass sucks, otherwise you can truly say Rodgers not only lost it for his team, but was clearly the first person to give up at the end.

I'd have been so ****ing mad if I was on the team. To see your QB give up with 4 mins left is unreal.

Yes, things have swung around in the last few days.

No not at all.

My point is that Maye had a GREAT 2nd half against an excellent defense. 174 passing yards is a great half of passing production in ANY game. All year long we've heard that all those great numbers Maye put up were the result of JV competition. These numbers clearly weren't. But because it doesn't flow with the narrative the mediots want, we haven't been hearing about them.

Listen, the Texans may very well end up winning this game. They make even hold us to under 20 points again. But this team WILL move the ball as well as the Texans might.

BTW- you and I both know that none of this stuff matters. The ultimate results will NOT be decided by how many passing yds we have, but rather TO ratio, calls, and how the bounces roll
Turnovers will decide this game. If I'm Vrabel, I tell the offense: The defense will get to Stroud and make him turn it over. Whatever you guys do, do not turn it over. Take a sack or throw it away. Punting is not a bad thing. Don't go for the kill shot if it's not there.

Ball security is critical. I also don't think this is a game where you want to go for 4th and 3 at midfield or something crazy. Unless you absolutely need too of course.

Lastly, a ST's TD by the Patriots would be huge in a game like this.

They should have tried Rudolph when the game was in reach. Or at least dialed up some trick plays. Just do something different. Rodgers did things his way and totally blew it. If I'm the Steelers defense, I'm disgusted with the offense. They did everything to keep them in that game.

I guess this would be the "light work out day". So we can assume there are no symptoms. So he is on track to play, though he isn't going to be fully practicing this week. Well, in reality none of them are fully practicing at point. It's all walk thru and mental stuff. I am THRILLED with this news
Yep put him on Kirk and then I don't know where Houston goes with the football. I really don't.

************ this is so stupid and you touched on it.

Vrabel used to be DeMeco Ryans' defensive coordinator OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

If you're at this point in the tournament, none of this happy horseshit matters.

Maybe its old nostalgia in me but i remember during the BB/TB12 yrs that whenever a team with a high reputation of a defense or offense came to foxboro, our team was determined to prove them wrong and find a way to disprove them. Case in point the #1 offense in 2004 was held to 3 points and we scored 40+ on the #1 defense next week.
Yes different yrs and different players etc etc but i am hoping for a similar DNA in this team.

That is my all-time favorite Patriots stat. (Oh, and then they won the super bowl) The anti-Belichick people should shove that post-season up their noses, IMO.
