I pointed out that the Texans are middle of the pack against big passing plays and how the Steelers could have had several big plays if Metcalf didn't drop a ball, Rodgers didn't underthrow a wide open Austin, or Rodgers could move in the pocket to avoid the rush to hit an open Metcalf for a TD.

Personally, I think people are overrating the Texans' defense into an all time defense when a QB like Maye actually might be able to do very well against them.

I've been listening to the ESPN talking heads all morning and the prevalent train of thought has been this, "if he was shaky against the very good Charger DL, it is going to be worse against the GREAT Texan pass rush". Then they highlight 58% completion %, 3 TO's and 16 points. On the surface this IS a perfectly logical position. However, this is one stat that has stuck with me that I haven't heard once this week that is, to me, a very telling one. 11-15 for 174. Those are Drakes 2nd half passing stats. And they are excellent numbers for any QB. For example if you take Brady's first half #'s of the Atlanta SB, there IS no statue in front of the stadium. I would opine that it's how you finish the game that matters and these mediots are pretty much ignoring what happened. I haven't heard this position from our guys, they have been much more supportive as a whole.

Just sayin'..
Is your point that Maye might have another terrible first half, but that is OK because Brady could overcome a poor first half?

HOU's defense is better than that of the chargers. If we are to win, it seems that Maye will need to play better in the first half.

But, yes, Maye might be able to have a 4th quarter comeback and win against the top Defense in the NFL.

Trent Brown looks way out of shape. His front porch is hanging down over his belt.

Vs Pitt, Jake Andrews had a shaky game. Snapped the ball inadvertently and had a couple of other hiccups.

I can't name any player or staff on that list that I would rather have than the people we currently have doing those things. Instead of New England South, they're New England JV.

I've gone "bussin' with the boys" has a very different meaning to me than I think it does to them.

Or maybe not. Once the Raiders moved to Vegas there was a non-zero chance I'd run into one of them at Entourage Spa.
This clip was shown earlier in the thread, but is well worth repeating, because this is what's probably happening this week, and is what is SHOUD be happening,

These are great defensive football players, but GREAT defensive football players get beat 50% of the time, so they DO get beat. So thew often you do it will depend on effort, execution and technique. The Pats will give them the techniques, it's up to the players themselves to come up with the effort and execution.

Not as clear as we might prefer but looks good to me:

ROFL he is participating in practice. That better?

I guess this would be the "light work out day". So we can assume there are no symptoms. So he is on track to play, though he isn't going to be fully practicing this week. Well, in reality none of them are fully practicing at point. It's all walk thru and mental stuff. I am THRILLED with this news

There’s a whole separate thread on this. The latest any of those coaches were on the Pats was 2022 (Caley). The players still on the team from 2022: Marcus Jones (was on IR most of the year), Brenden Schooler, Hunter Henry, Rhamondre Stevenson, Anfernee Jennings, Jahlani Tavai. That’s the entire list.

Do these coaches and front office folks know what Josh McDaniels will do? Maybe. But it also stands to reason that the Pats know that and are trying to counter (and in a similar manner, also have some ideas on the OL techniques Houston uses, for instance, and their weaknesses).

Houston’s defense is pretty good as it is; I doubt any knowledge of McDaniels will add much to the equation. Their players can do enough as is.

Only one missing from list is Mike Onwenu.

No not at all.

My point is that Maye had a GREAT 2nd half against an excellent defense. 174 passing yards is a great half of passing production in ANY game. All year long we've heard that all those great numbers Maye put up were the result of JV competition. These numbers clearly weren't. But because it doesn't flow with the narrative the mediots want, we haven't been hearing about them.

Listen, the Texans may very well end up winning this game. They make even hold us to under 20 points again. But this team WILL move the ball as well as the Texans might.

BTW- you and I both know that none of this stuff matters. The ultimate results will NOT be decided by how many passing yds we have, but rather TO ratio, calls, and how the bounces roll

The Pats gave Caley his first NFL job in 2015.

He has worked directly with McDaniel's. Its not that big of a deal. The 2001 NE offensive playbook was on the web free for whoever wanted to download it. Only a dumb team like the Raiders would keep everything the same after each season. If You recall, when Gruden took the Tampa HC job and they faced the Raiders in the SB. Gruden knew every call and play because the Raiders never bothered to change them.

The Pats are too clever.

The Evan Lazar Catch-22 well worth a listen. The points he made (referenced earlier in this thread):

1. Texans not that good against long ball
2. Texans positively bad against QB scrambles
3. Texans not that good against jumbo packages (6 OL) (but note small sample size)

So there's a blueprint for us - all things we do as well or better than any other team.
