Practice squad could go from 12 to up to 16 players.

Really a win-win for everyone.

More jobs for player, more flexibility for coaches, developmental slots for GMs and all under the same overall cap limit so owners also dont necessarily have to pay more.

That being said I am not sure it will be enough to combat positive COVID tests unless players/staff are consistently tested and filtered out in time before entering the facilities. Once someone who tested positive somehow makes it inside the most likely scenario is still a shutdown of that team and its facilities for 1-2 weeks.

And to keep the facilities clean will be tremendously difficult. Looking at the NBA protocols in place for the Disney bubble tells you already that much.

Should take it one step further and allow practice squad players to be called up and sent back down like MLB minor leaguers, providing they give appropriate notice. Might put less pressure on roster players who have a nagging injury to recover rather than return early..

The NFL is paying these guys anyways, so why not give them the opportunity to play as needed...

I have always wondered about this as well.

Who gives a ****...increase the active game day rosters and now we're talking

I also heard on Moving the Chains today that TC rosters are being considered to be reduced to 75 players...makes no feckin sense at all...

The last NFL CBA had such a provision.

All they would need to do is increase the number of players that can be activated from the PS (currently, two players a week), and make a rule that in such a case the activations do not count against the normal limits (currently, you can activate a player twice and "demote" them after the game; the third time you promote a player, they have to go through waivers before returning to the PS).
