Then you still have the option to return late season. They had two QBs last season.

I hope they don't. If they're serious about developing Brissett, they'd presumably want him to practice for the remainder of the season. IRing him would prevent that, so even in the overwhelmingly likely event that they don't need to call on him at any point this season, he's still probably worth the roster spot. If thy plan on trading Jimmy this offseason, especially, then 75% of a season's worth of practices for your backup and likely Brady replacement is pretty valuable.

There are plenty of moves that can be elsewhere on the roster to free up the necessary roster spots.

Im sure if this was week 4 Jimmy would be able to play. He's healthy enough and will get healthier as the year goes on that carrying 2 is fine imo.
