GET THAT **** OFF MY LAWN!

That was awesome. That receiver would have caught that had he not smacked it

Some quick hitters:

  1. Tom seemed to be high on the short passes early on.
  2. Even if you didn't like the Dorsett trade before, now you have to love it, even if it's because of just one play.
  3. I don't know how he'll do it, but BB's going to have to get more speed at LB for next year.
  4. On a related note, Chung had better put on his Ertz-stoppin' shoes for the SB.
  5. I expect the offense will work on downfield blocking in the next two weeks.
  6. It's painful to say this, but: given the absence of Hightower and Branch being inactive, thank God for James Harrison.
  7. Cooks should have had that catch, but he also should have gotten the PI call on the throw where he was bracketed by the two defenders
  8. I thought Lewis regained possession, and the league must have thought it was close, because the call stood, and was not confirmed.
There are obviously plenty of other items to note, but that's good for now.

I did a thread search for Dorsett. He wasn't bad when used, but that was a big time catch when they were struggling. Maybe with a full camp he'll turn out to be a bargain.

He's been really good in the very limited number of targets he's received.

I don’t get the point of this tweet
Last time the 2 teams met in the SB it was in Jacksonville (the loser of today’s AFCCG). This time when the 2 teams meet up it will be in Minnesota (the loser of today’s NFCCG).

As Alanis Morisette would say, “isn’t it ironic?”

Ahhhh thank you. Brain wasn’t processing that

I don't understand the doubters that have been on here for a dozen years or so and every week its the same. The defense sucks, the offense sucks, matty p sucks, mcdaniles sucks brady sucks, etc, etc, etc they need to find another team.
McDaniels' obsession with the inside draw and today continually running screens can be justifiably infuriating. Of course there is a difference between saying McDaniels sucks, and being mad at certain play calling.

Some more organized thoughts now that i'm not distracted by the NFC game and had time to really reflect.

#1 Brady was really good. I think he had 1 pass bad all game. The others were just missed by a bit and he fit a few into a window that was super tiny. The first time in a while he had back to back clean playoff performances. He will hopefully keep it up vs a very talented Eagles D. Clearly hi hand didn't bother him much at all and it seems he wil be 100% for the Eagles. Also I bet Gronk will too!

#2 The OL I thought did great. Flemming stepped right in and did his job well. Andrews got beat a few times but overall it i hard to complain about the OL in pass blocking. In run blocking besides that last run for Lewis they didn't get much done. The Eagles pass rush IMO is better than the Eagles front 4 is better than the Jags in both run blocking and pass rush. The pass rush isn't MUCH better but their run blocking is the best in the NFL. Hopefully the OL can do better at that in 2 weeks.

#3 I'm happy with how nearly all the offensive skill players did. If I had to list anyone i felt didn't do a great job I would say Burkhead mostly didn't look right. Hopefully he is ready to go in 2 weeks. Didn't come back in after he took that big hit though. The RBs didn't accomplish near as much as i thought they would from the pass catching aspect of the game. The Jags just really played that well though but I feel the play calling could have been better at times.

#4 Speaking of the play calling I had my issues in the first half. I thought too many passes where short and behind the line which had no chance to RBs and on their second offensive drive after seeing how Brady was doing I thought the 2 runs after the Pats got 5 yards on a pass was a bad idea. If Brady is hot let him role. A well coached and called game of course but I felt some early issues were very avoidable.

#5 The Pats just keep falling for the same thing over and over again it looked like on defense. Those passers to the outside for RBs killed the Patriots. It wasn't like they had a solution to it. The Jags just kind of stopped doing it mostly.

#6 The Pats showed a lot of trick plays this game. I don't know if they have any left in the tank. We will see. It was unfortunate they had to show them here but of course you need to worry about and win this game first

#7 The DL really did great in the 2nd half. Actually most of the game it was good. The only time I felt they were not doing well was before the 2nd TD. They were just pushed back. Overall though I thought they held the line well and got pressure when let loose. Again I felt the play calling was a bit conservative here on defense. Letting Bortles complete something like 15/17 to start really hurt. They needed to change their game plan before that happened. To their credit they did change it after but much of the damage was done.

#8 LBs did great in trail coverage tonight. 2 big stops today in trail covered by the big boys. Van Noy and M. Flowers both had PBUs to stop 25 yard gains. Those plays were great and are being over looked.

#9 The Patriots defense has now played 4 full games without a defensive turnover (not counting downs). The last one was the memorable play against the Steelers. They are way way way over due. I want some in the super bowl.

#10 Overall we had some injuries but none that would hopefully effective the super bowl. Should be good to go!

Some thoughts:

Leading up to the game, football nerds seemed to identify a statistical weakness in the Jags' defense of defending the pass against base personnel. I expected a lot more no huddle trying to keep Posluzny on the field to throw at him with RBs. Instead I saw a lot of 3 WR sets which is what the Jags D is best at defending. In the end they took on the Jags best aspect and overcame it, but I wonder if they could have made it easier on themselves from the start.

Offseason/inseason acquisitions:
Cooks: Huge game
Gilmore: Huge game
Dorsett: Big catch
Dwayne Allen: Solid blocking
James Harrison: 3 tackles*
Lawrence Guy: 4 tackles, 1 sack*
Ricky Jean Francois: 4 tackles*

*Fournette held to 3.2 ypc

Not every acquisition worked out, but the ones that stuck really contributed to this win.

3 teams completed flea flickers today!

Bill has to be happy that the D didn't burn a TO or do anything dumb when the Jags did a funky formation on a 4th and 1 punt.

I'm certainly glad the Pats won, if only to prevent that guy who posts here about Brady's supposedly deteriorating arm and his theory that Brady should sit the first four games of the season. Brady threw some lasers and bombs today, cut on his thumb and all.

As Alanis Morisette would say, “isn’t it ironic?”

It’s ironic but mathematical. That hidden equation beyond periphery

He started to lose control before he hit the ground, it was a fumble imo. Regardless its not even just the fumble, he really didn't make plays today like cooks and dola stepping up huge

He regained control with the ball pinned against his hip before he hit the ground. I watched all the different angles and it was plain as day.

So you knew Gronk would take a head shot and miss half the game???

Don't get ****y and tell people who had more confidence in the Pats than you to "take a seat".

It had NOTHING to do with "confidence" and EVERYTHING to do with not being arrogant and over-looking a team. It had everything to do with having actually watched the Jaguars play some games OTHER than the one in Pittsburgh and being intelligent enough to give them the respect they deserved. Something that far too many people on this board can't be bothered to do because of their f'in arrogance.

So, yes. I will tell loud-mouth arrogant people who were mouthing off like this was going to be a cake walk to sit down.

BTW, Tony, it wasn't going to be an easy with regardless of whether Gronk was in the game or not. If you think it was, then the level of respect I had for you just took a huge hit.

and the eagles mocked the skol chant too, the crowd should be pretty heavy in favor of the pats.

It's going to be a cosmopolitan crowd and if anyone is going to be booed it'll be us. You're deeply underestimating how much people hate us after closing in on 2 decades of sustained excellence.

Eagles will just be another speed bump in the dynasty. Their only chance is pass rush, and our OL wont forget how to play like 2007
