Post Game Thread- Pats Destroy the Titans

I have finally decided Tom Brady is a system QB. Only thing is, he IS the system. He has been the focal point of everything Patriots going back to 2003 - when the Panthers were caught on mike saying how much they feared Brady having the ball at the end. Every team that plays NE has one primary goal - stopping Tom Brady. It has been that way for years, and remains that way at age 40.

That is my favorite dis of all time - "Tom Brady, system quarterback."

Along with the obvious flip side: "I love Favrevruh (or whoever), he just goes out there and has fun like he's playing in the backyard." Yeah, and throws more interceptions than touchdowns. And we can all talk about that magical night after his dad died or how classy it was to let whoever that guy was sack him to set a meaningless record on a meaningless play.

Brady is a system quarterback. It's freaking 2018, and these are the professionals.

You want to play backyard two-hand-touch, knock yourself out.

He's a walking playbook and this league knows it. That knowledge puts him in a position to read and react to the D before the ball is snapped. No, "Omaha" wasn't a thing when Brady was using the very same word, and "Sally Sally Sally" isn't a thing, and he's not wildly gesticulating to correct a playbook that obviously was otherwise not up to the task. But he's capable of building the play at the line when it's called for... more importantly, despite the proclamations of the GDT savants, it's usually not called for.

The Pats have a system you can trust to win, if you run the system, with the adjustments that make sense. You can see that he's now at the point he talks about... the game has slowed down for him to where you can get to him, but you can't mentally rattle him, because he knows what you've got.

That doesn't just help with field vision, although it helps there obviously and importantly. It also cements in his mind a "how to win" not "whether we'll win" mentality. The most dramatic example of the value of this was last year about this time (less a couple weeks) vs. Atlanta.

That "system" is a weapon in his hands.

And oh GOD would I love for the haters to be right, a few years down the line. "Tom Brady, system quarterback." Do you realize what that condemns the rest of this league to?

But they're not right. He's a system quarterback like the atomic bomb was a "system weapon" for America in WWII.

Yeah, please hurt us by telling us TFB is a system quarterback. OMG, what if you're right?

You mean we can plug in anybody and keep doing this to you?

This really keeps me up at night LOL.

Did dorsett see any snaps last night? I rather see Britt active. Britt has been in the league for awhile and has had some production assuming Mitchell doesn't come back as well.

Wanna share this with you all. Good guy on Twitter who is a ginormous Pats fan had this happen to him. Kudos to their social media department for this. He always defends them against idiots and is always supporting their different causes so to see this happen is awesome.

Practically flawless victory aside from the jones and waddle injuries. Least stressful playoff win aside from denver in 2011. Patricia and jmd will be missed because we’re like a well oiled machine right now on both sides of the ball and will be extremely tough to knock out. Is my math/memory correct and we are 17-3 at Gillette in the playoffs? As in 85%??? Practically unbeatable, a whole nother level of comfort.

Brady was brady, great sign heading into next week and potentially the sb, we should be considerably favored over anyone based off how he looked last night alone.

Amendola imo will be jules this postseason. He’s always had the slot ability, I think they tried to limit his load in the regular season and hogan out limited his versatility. Wouldn’t be suprised to see a couple more 8+ catch games as he’s possibly the most reliable target in this offense, huge for the passing offense.

100 y’ards rushing even though we were pretty pass heavy and facing a good dl. Already looking better and more respectable than our playoff run game recently outside vs the colts. This will make brady even more lethal if teams have to respect an actual run threat instead of just having to defend brady. If we play pitt i think lewis feasts given we aren’t playing from behind again.

Gotta be encouraged by that pass rush, the no names up front really stepped up. Gilmore also put in a perfect game. 2 of the early season concerns. If we play pitt and get this Gilmore, be suprised if thats not a 3 score win as well. The plays to bryant in the 2nd quarter of that game were pretty big in getting us down early which put pitt in control. Get the early lead at gillette and its more like the other majority of steelers matchups.

St solid, great kickoff coverage and pooch punts.... would like having a little more explosiveness on punt return as it hasnt seemed to be there this year but maybe getting greedy

All in all, only negatives from an otherwise flawless night was the waddle /jones injuries. Both are manageable tho pending the health of Bademosi (missed whether he was inactive due to an injury or just a healthy scratch??)

Dorsett reportedly had 0 snaps (not even in garbage time which is a bit odd).

So what you're saying is you'd rather “see“ Britt have that?

Anybody have the skinny on JJ?

That Loyko guy said it was an Achilles?

Shout out to Amen-Dola! Huge game last night! The guy should honestly make the HOF solely based off of his CLUTCH playoff performances.

Well I’m pissed off I stayed up most of the night to fall asleep 15 mins before kick off... and didn’t see a single snap!

I’ve seen highlights but not the same as watching all the snaps!

Seems like we played very very well.

Onto the AFCCG

"long distance, post: 5213362, member: 37082"]My favourite play of the night was this one from the very beginning.
This monster edge play from Harrison (handling 3 guys) made such a statement.
And put me at ease.. (not only for today but going forward as well)

I agree. He adds a whole new dimension to the D. It was a great team effort to contain the run.

I love it.

It's is a very good feeling, moving along. Especially, if we see Pitt

Seems like they held Dola back this season and he’s ready to take on Edelman’s role and workload for the playoff run.

Is this true?

Yep

Brady’s 19th Championship game, if they win he will hit 20 championship games, 12 AFCCG and 8 Super Bowls.

That’s incredible.

That sucks. I was so pumped up, I was jittery.
I was up till 2 am till' I could calm down.

Whew.! You missed a good one.

Fortunately Amendola found his Edelman costume in the back of the closet. He always seems to drag it out at playoff time.

Christian Fauria mentioned Amendola's importance in his pre-game talk. He was correct.

The Patriots are just so good year in and year out they turn at least one playoff game into fun pre-season scrimmage. That was a fun practice session last night. Hopefully we'll see some actual high quality tough hard hitting smash mouth football next week.
Hoping we get a Steelers/Patriots rematch.
