The other option is that he is on the 53 man roster and does not start Game One. This possibility is seeming more and more likely.

O.K., it's not the NFL, so don't bash me, but I had complete reconstructive knee surgery in 1991. NINE WEEKS post operation, I was playing in a softball league, and that fall in a Flag Football league. Right now he's 12 weeks post operation, and it's 2010, where they know and do alot more medically. Plus, he has access to things I could never have dreamed of.

Again, I'm not comparing this to playing in the NFL, but I am trying to point out that it's not impossible that he's there to start the season.

Might they play it safe? Sure, they might. Just sayin..................

But either way I think he's the starting slot receiver by week 6 (if he doesn't start the season on reserve PUP) or week 7 (if he does). PUP is measured in game weeks not team games so if he is Pupped he's eligible to start practicing after our 5th game in week 6 and play in our 6th game in week 7.

I agree. If this poll were taken a month or longer ago, I would've answered: Reserve PUP, active by Thanksgiving at the earliest. Now, I'm leaning towards Reserve PUP, active by Halloween at the latest. I actually hope that Bill places him on the Reserve PUP, just so he's not tempted to play Welker sooner than he's physiologically sound enough to do what he needs to do to be successful.
