Nobody is wearing the number of the greatest football player ever again in New England

Great question. I have always thought that teams shouldn’t retire numbers, the Celtics retire everyone’s number and the Steelers have never retired a number but how can you not, also build a statue.

I don't think the Pats HoF is significant enough to properly acknowledge Tom's accomplishments here.

#12 deserves a special exemption and his number should be retired.

Is this debatable?

The only answer is absolutely. Brady is on the Mt.Rushmore of sport greats, he should have a statue outside of the Stadium He’s the GOAT, and I would actually be fine with a big old statue of a goat, wearing #12.

His # will be retired obviously.

Jersey retirement on SNF next year. Against...Bills maybe?

Ha! Do it at Buffalo - live feed from Gillette on the jumbotron.

The Patriots have retired 20 (Gino Cappelletti), 40 (Mike Haynes), 57 (Steve Nelson), 73 (John Hannah), 78 (Bruce Armstrong), 79 (Jim Lee Hunt) and 89 (Bob Dee). Andre Tippett's No. 56 is unofficially retired. Yes, 12 belongs on that list.

Don't retire it! Some crap receiver that Bill drafts in the 4th round will wear it next.

Brady seems like the guy who wouldn't want his number retired. Man is so competitive that he could be saying "Hell, I dare someone to try and surpass my legacy with my number." - he doesn't get that competition if the number is retired.

Yeah, I know - I'm probably 100% wrong, and I 99.9% think they will retire his number. However, if they don't.... it's because Brady stepped in and said don't do it (I would be blown away if I call this right )

No one wears #12 again in foxboro.

Easy, retire the number. I mean, let's put it this way, even if it was not 'officially' retired, who in their right mind would join the Pats and ask for #12?!?!?! That person would be cut on the spot just for showing poor judgement (and thus would not get the number anyway)

Although, what if Rodgers came to the Pats. Would he wear 12?

Boston sports legends with enshrined #s.

Bobby Orr # 4
Ted Williams # 9
Larry Bird # 33
Bill Russel # 6
Yaz # 8

You cannot tell the story of the Bruins or NHL without Orr. To this day Orr is the GOAT.
You cannot tell the story of the Red Sox or MLB without Williams and Yaz.
You cannot tell the story of the Celtics or NBA without Russel and Bird.

You get the picture. Brady is the personification of every one of those Boston icons and belongs with them.

Yea maybe kinda like what the Sox do and put on the stadium. I just don't want it in some corner. Put it on the new lighthouse or something

I could maybe see a statue out front. As special as he was, I'd be leery of overdoing it since it's so much a team game and he was a team-first guy most of the way. The Pats maybe should consider a "ring of honor" in Gillette like other teams do, election to the Patriots Hall of Fame being required.

A ring of honor for Tom does not seem like enough.

Statue of Tom on the North End.

Statue of BB on the South.

Statue of Kraft near Massage Envy

Here you go, make a statue of this for the north entrance. They "made" each other, they should be honored together:

Judging by Kraft's horseshit response to Brady's retiring, I don't see him retiring #12 or memorializing Brady.

It will take a gigantic fan petition to force Kraft to do something.

Not the same.
