So far in this playoff run, the storylines have been:

* Friction between BB-Brady and BB-Kraft.
* Brady's practice injury and fallout.
* Gisele wants Brady to retire.
* Everyone outside New England hates having another Pats Super Bowl.
* Both coordinators are moving on to head coaching jobs.

Nothing too major here that threatens to distract from the team's preparations -- so far, that is. Considering the bombs dropped on this franchise in past playoff runs, Patriots fans are justified in nervously waiting for another unforeseen shoe to drop. What will be next, if anything? Will local or national media conjure another distraction-worthy scandal before the end of next week?

This is the thread to post concerns and potentially newsworthy distractions as the Pats prepare for a shot at Lombardi No. 6.

I'm thinking a Bob Hohler Globe hit piece on the day before media day....guessing something on tb12...or maybe some outlandish new "cheating" accusation

The two days before SB media day -- next Sunday and Monday -- are the big days to watch. I am keeping my fingers crossed and HOPING that nothing comes up between now and Feb. 4.

I don't think the Pats will be affected in any way by any kind of allegations and accusations leading up to the Big Game. I expect to see more coverage of the demise of the NFL, calls for boycotts of the Superbowl, and almost real time scrutiny of the game's ratings.

The NFL has not helped itself. NBC (which is hosting the game) just ran a story about the NFLPA nominating Kaep for an award and I have seen a lot of coverage of a vet ad being rejected by the NFL Here are some recent distractions the NFL is dealing with...
  1. NFLPA announces Colin Kaepernick finalist for "Whizzer" White Community MVP award
  2. NFL rejects veterans group's Super Bowl ad urging people to stand during the national anthem
  3. Ratings for NFL conference title games down 8 percent
  4. 49er claims NFL plans to shift money from breast cancer awareness and vet support criminal justice reform and police accountability programs
The Patriots will be fine.

great thread...I truly hope this not going to happen, but i was wondering about this weeks ago.

WickerScam’s piece was the start, rex burkhead’s collision with brady and sensationalism of that was obvious...

I still see a piece of the bb/kraft/brady angle attempting to be pushed, and hopefully that is it.

It will be constant speculation about whether or not Brady will retire should they win. It’s already alive and kicking pretty strong, and I expect it to heat up even more.

I agree. Pats will be focused on 1 thing, that most of them have just dealt with 12 months ago.

The pressure/ distractions are mostly on the Iggles.
Big lights, not home, SB virgins, interviews, family begging for tix....

Pats; White jerseys, been there, BB, ...

I give us the edge, but... we'll know in the 3rd Qtr.

If the eagles are smart, they should take it slow in the 1st half.
Play smart, not overly physical, be aggressive with the clock, prepare for a 3rd qtr onslaught. ie Hurry up,/no huddle.

Long and Blount know this... Just food for thought.

Lets hope we have similar adjustments to their perceived plan. ..and the Pats are on point.

I clicked "Yes, created by National Media". While I do not know of a specific story line, it is easy to gather that jealousy is spawning more hatred. Many team fan bases want what we have had for almost two decades,

Someone actually posted this not knowing what satire meant. Very well done.

Some people are really dense. That does however prove my point about jealousy and hatred.

"They" are rigging the game.
"They" are why they can't get a good paying job.
"They" are why they are fat off of sugary foods.

They, they, they...

I'm going to write the next great American novel, and the main villain's name is going to be They. That mother****er is brutal...

Now I think a globe hit piece on the bill belichick foundation is a possibility ...that'd be right up the globes alley considering they already hit Brady's best buddies

How about Gronk can't/won't/doesn't feel like playing and the Pats can't win without him? I think this will be both a local and national media distraction. I won't allow myself to get sucked in this time!

Edit - I forgot about the refs help the Pats win. I almost climbed out of the stands with all the holding the Jags were doing against the Pats in the 1st half. Chung was holding? I saw him getting mugged on running downs. The truth is we all see plays that never get called for our own team, and are blind to fouls committed by our own team. The Pats don't get called because they are not as aggressive as a lot of these other defenses, keeping everything in front of them instead. Also, they have a very good offense and sometimes the only thing the other team can do is hold onto their receivers/TEs, particularly Gronk. Sometimes you are going to get called on that. Why can't people understand it?
