Not a big huge fan of appreciation threads and not a hater either. Most are obvious, some are head scratchers.
Take Newhouse thread. Most times I just appreciate it when he doesn’t play. So then he is forced into action and actually has a good game. Should it be an appreciation thread or should it be I appreciate that he didn’t get blown up for a change?
As far as Sanu? I’d appreciate the 2nd round pick back. However I’d also appreciate it if he would step up and make some big plays From this day forward since the first one is not happening.
They balance out the cheap and lazy criticism all too common on the internet.
So I appreciate them.
And I just shake my head at the need to analyze whether they are appropriate or not. As my first mother in law would say, Jeepers.
I’m not judging members that post appreciation threads, but I think they’re foolish.
I consider myself a fan, but I’m not a fanboy. If I ran into a Patriots player somewhere, I wouldn’t get all goosebumpy and be in awe. They’re just professional athletes.
I flew on a plane with Stephen Tyler a few years back and the way people reacted to him was embarrassing to me.
