I respect the move of channeling your inner mosslost.

I don’t mind them. I just found it comical that there were so many on the first page of the main forum at one time.

I’m not judging members that post appreciation threads, but I think they’re foolish.

I consider myself a fan, but I’m not a fanboy. If I ran into a Patriots player somewhere, I wouldn’t get all goosebumpy and be in awe. They’re just professional athletes.

I flew on a plane with Stephen Tyler a few years back and the way people reacted to him was embarrassing to me.

What happened to mosslost
He was traded to one of the Jets fan sites for a 2020 7th round forum draft pick.

As far as appreciation threads go, I'll take a thread about a Patriot football player over a media contrarian/media troll, or a redundant thread that has already been beaten to death any day.

He was mouthy to the management. I miss him quite a bit - but you can’t have aggression vs the mods : they are the reason this place exists !

I appreciate the appreciation of the of appreciation threads.

If they played for free then I would.

I guess this is the thread to speak freely? lol It sucks that appreciation threads aren't appreciated. The Sanu satirical thread has far more views and replies than some of the real appreciation threads and that's a shame. It's just basically another Sanu bashing thread. We already had one of those. What's so wrong with celebrating guys who are either playing extremely well or doing things that go above and beyond their projected roles/performance? There are guys like Roberts, who may leave a lot to be desired as an LB, but has jumped in and is doing what the team has asked him to do at a totally different position, much like Jules and Troy at CB years ago. Why wouldn't that deserve to be appreciated? Speaking of Jules, he is basically being held together with duct tape. Still he's out there gutting out performances and somehow still being our leading receiver. Lawrence Guy has quietly become perhaps our best DLman over the past two seasons. I can't remember many people predicted that when we acquired him. People still don't talk about him that much.

To me, all these things and players matter. I'm not saying we go overboard and make one for everyone. Rather, we make them for the players doing the most or those performing beyond what was expected. A guy who has played one heck of a game doesn't deserve an appreciation thread. But a guy having a great season or playing out of position . . . I'd think so. But I'll go the way of the board. If the vote is ultimately to do away with them, then so be it. I'll jump of the soap box now. Just my humble opinion. Carry on. :)

This feels like a $1.99 Hallmark card poll rather than the $5.99 one.

I have never started an appreciation thread but I do comment in them. I like appreciating things in life and some of my favorite things are people and some of my favorite people are Pats so... I can’t figure out how to end this sentence.

I appreciate your difficulties in ending that sentence.

We have a catch all thread for all roster moves, should we handicap meaningful discussion further with a catch all thread for player appreciation as well?

The period definitely worked out.

I don’t appreciate this thread and call on members to cease the depreciation of appreciation threads! It’s an outrage

Perhaps going into the playoffs an appreciation thread for the Yeti.

They seem a bit too conventional to do the job they're intended to. Maybe if these were not "appreciation threads" but all individual and different that they would be more effective to me, even if only say 3-4 fans are aboard with your post, it might be more convincing than this boiler plate approach, which seem partially dead on arrival.
