Longtime Buccaneers beat writer Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times said on his podcast that Fournette, who is listed at 228 pounds, actually weighs about 30 pounds more than that.

Coaches were not happy, and that’s an understatement, when he didn’t participate in the OTAs, but then he shows up at the mandatory minicamp weighing damn near 260,” Stroud said. “And that’s not a good sign for a guy that you just spent a three-year contract on.”

LMAO

Looks like Fournette is trying to keep up with inflation, eating at a rate of 6 pounds a month...

Rotational Player and Threatening Starter's Job
Won't matter. He'll lose the weight or his job. They have other RBs on the roster. Either way it's a pass first offense with a complementary running game. If Brady plays at the level of the last two season, then I don't care who their lead running back is, they're winning 12 games at least.

Pretty damn funny, though. You have one job in the offseason. He’ll be fine. He’s a 27 year old professional athlete. Two months is plenty of time to knock that off with a diet that’s under control.

This is nothing new and not breaking news. Fournette has always been up and down with his weight in the offseason. The coaches were also not upset at his weight.

Don't worry, he'll be fine and your favorite QB Tom Brady will be awesome again this year. :D

you’re right, i’m sure they were real happy about it…
The article you cited has no source saying his coaches were unhappy about his weight. His weight is always up and down in the offseason this is nothing new for him.

The Patriots also wanted him so clearly they didn't see a problem with it either.
why, do the Bucs have an easy schedule again?
And yet they are still projected for 11.5 wins. Take the over, easy. If everyone stays healthy, Brady is in the MVP conversation again. That's good news for you cause he really is still your favorite QB and it shows :D

It has been reported that Rick Stroud asked one of the coaches directly...

No they didn't. They brought him in for a workout and probably said no once they saw his weight. They never offered him a contract.

Who cares about projections? The Bucs got worse without Gronk and Brown. That is a fact. It'll be easier for teams to double team Evans and Godwin now. Gage is not going to help that much and he is certainly not an AB replacement. Unless they add another weapon Brady's numbers will likely go down. You saw how much they struggled last year in the playoffs vs LA without Godwin and Brown. At this stage of his career Brady needs a full set of weapons, not just 2.

Losing Antonio Brown will not be a big deal. Last year, he played in 7 games and caught all of 545 yards. That production will be easily replaced - and it will be done so without having all the distraction and hassle that comes with having Antonio Brown on your team.

The juice is simply no longer worth the squeeze with Brown. He will not even remotely be missed.

If Antonio Brown played the entire year in 2021, he would have had the second most targets on the team. Clearly Brady trusted him on the field. If opponents double-teamed Evans and Godwin, Brady would just throw to Brown and Gronk. He doesn't have that luxury anymore. Gage is a decent player but he's not going to scare anyone, at least to the extent like Brown did.

Not sure about that. With Brown the Bucs were undefeated after the bye week in the Superbowl year to his Jets game fiasco in the games he played. Brady trusted him more than Evans and Godwin.

That's why the Gage pickup is a good one because he will not be as productive as AB, but it gives them that legit third option to make that offense go.

Once you have to resort to hypotheticals to make your point, you only show how weak your point is.

Here in the real world, Antonio Brown was 5th on the team in targets, only 5 ahead of the almighty Cameron Brate.

Would you like me to help you make sense of this? On a per game basis, here's Brady's top 5 targets last year on average:

Godwin - 9.1 targets/game

Brown - 8.8 targets/game

Gronk - 7.14 targets/game

Evans - 7.12 targets/game

Fournette - 6 targets/game

Therefore, Brown was one of Brady's favorite receivers by a longshot. Ya think he missed him in the Rams game where he played like ASS for 3 quarters? At this stage of his career, Tommy needs his weapons to win the SB. He's not 2016 Tommy anymore (who won the SB with Edelman and a bunch of smurfs).
